Tamarind's been serving reliable grub to the South Street crowd for years. Huge variety of vegetarian dishes, much more than your average Thai joint.

They've got a 1-7 scale where you can choose your heat. If you're a heat-lover, a five is perfect, 6 is a challenge, and 7 is for a transcendental experience.

Wonderful food. Tamarind makes the best curry in the city of Philadelphia. My favorite is Green Curry and I have not found another restaurant that makes curry this good. My girlfriend either orders the Ginger Curry with chicken or shrimp, Red Curry with shrimp, or the Radna. I really think that you cant go wrong with whatever it is that you order as Tamarind provides an extensive menu. My recomendation is that you bring a group of friends, many bottles of wine, order more than one of every appetizer as they are fanastic and inexpensive, and enjoy yourself.

Great food. Sauteed ginger curry is my favorite. They do have a lot of great selection. The service is great, the atmosphere is great as well.

A Little Taste of Thai. This is a nice little (literally) inexpensive Thai restaurant to eat after browsing around South Street. I recommend making reservations if going on a weekend night. We were seated promptly and given menus. Our drinks (which were small too) came, but my boyfriend's coke was flat. We ordered Thai Sausage with Isan (?) Sauce. We LOVED the spicy red sauce. Two orders of Tom Yum soup: Spicy and comforting! He had Phad Kee Mao with pork (spicy basil noodles) and I had Penang with chicken. I had this before, but T's was way too watery and lacked much chicken meat. Our server couldn't speak or understand English very well, how frustrating. However, the dinner tab came to 35 dollars for two, what a steal!
