Editorial Review for Moshulu – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
This century-old sailing ship could easily employ its four-masted appeal to become a brash tourist trap. Instead, the Moshulu offers an elegant, curvy floored dining room, spacious lounge and delightful, scenic decks--with attentive service. Despite the high volume of orders it must churn out, the kitchen displays an impressive command of complex dishes such as lobster risotto, savory lamb with a goat cheese tart and a luscious crab cake with smoky salsa. I decided to try moshulu since we were looking for a new restaurant to try for a special occasion - we have gone to many of the top restaurants in Philly and I wanted a change. This place got great reviews so I was convinced. When we arrived, the inside dining area while very beautiful had a bizarre smell. Unappetizing and just strange. So we decided to go sit on the deck, outside on the water. After getting a seat that faced the parking lot, we sat down to eat. The tuna tartare was noticably few days old and had that slightly not fresh fish taste - I was so disappointed. Main dish was pan seared tuna and a gourmet hamburger. The hamburger was extremely average and the tuna was TASTELESS. This would have been a great restaurant if we were paying $12 a meal but at average 35-39 dollars a meal, this place is SO overpriced. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant. The water is nice but the food is terrible and just so expensive for what it is.
Pros: Pretty indoor dining area
Cons: Terrible food that is not well prepared or fresh and expensive

I go there every year for my birthday with my family. I always anticipate going. Whenever I go I always get something new that i have never tried before. The filet is great. The dessert is really worth waiting for. They gave me a banana foster which was in the shape of a ship. It was soooooo good that i didnt wan to every finished eating it. Im not exactly sure if they sell it anymore but it was really great.
Pros: ambience and veiw
Cons: none
