Editorial Review for Latest Dish – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
Just what makes this off-South-Street spot so cool and accessible is hard to say. Maybe it's the smiling DJ spinning vinyl. Maybe it's the roomful of lazily hip drinkers and diners. It's always a nice surprise when a place like this produces really good food. Also impressive is the kitchen's range: Both filet mignon and grilled chicken sandwiches really hit the mark. Don't miss the crunchy baked mac and cheese or awesome spice-rubbed chicken.

My friend and I went to dinner last Saturday, and arrived at Latest Dish at about eight pm. We walked in and were almost immediately greeted and seated. The place is small but friendly, the decor is trendy/cute, and there were people milling around, all comfortable. We were seated next to the bathroom door, which made me think of the review here that mentioned the bathroom location. =) The waitress came over right away, and we ordered a bottle of wine, some appetizers, and dinner. I ordered tea, which was the most awkward part of the night: she made a big deal about bringing over a big box full of tea, from which I was to choose whichever bag I wanted. This was to be put into the small mug of hot water she had brought over. I thought this was a little annoying; just ask me what kind of tea I want! Anyway, I ordered spring rolls and seitan meatloaf with mash, and my friend ordered duck egg rolls and scallops. Delicious! The wine was great, and not too too over priced. We ordered fried plantains for dessert, which were great except for the mint on them. All in all it was excellent and I am definitely going back.
Pros: awesome food, good vegetarian options, fairly priced wine
Cons: weird tea service!

My husband and I are food fanatics and this is our signature restaurant. It is full of funk, romance, and ambiance all at the same time. Appetizers...crab and cheese wontons...the best!!! We love the filet mignon over mashed potatoes and spinach. The macaroni and cheese...feel good food! The sea bass is amazing too!! I can't rave enough about this treasure of a restaurant. I recommend it to everyone. Once you go you will be hooked.
Pros: see the chefs at work, great bar & music, sexy atmosphere
Cons: a little tight
