What People Are Saying About Manny Brown's

In Short – Manny Brown's isn't the greatest Tex-Mex restaurant in the world, and it isn't the greatest sports bar in the world either. But on the whole, it's a great place to sit down and hang out for a while. There are tempting starters and entrees to whet your appetite, and ample beer on tap to wash them down. With plenty of booths and chairs, Manny Brown's is a fine establishment for friends to meet, chow down, drink up, and plan the evening ahead.
An actual bar

I used to live next door to Manny's, and it was one of the few places on South Street that I could actually call a bar. I never really liked the club-like atmosphere of many bars, and I found refuge in Manny Brown's. The service tends to be pretty bad - you'll have to flag people down if you want a refill on your lager. The ribs are great, and the burgers aren't bad either. Music is usually pretty decent (there's a jukebox), but not so loud you can't hear your companions talk. A good place to hang out with friends you already have, but probably not the best bar if you're out to get numbers.
- Pros: relaxed atmosphere, prices, ribs, booths
- Cons: parking, service
There's no better place to go Sunday
by claytonjones
Well, if you're a football fan maybe there is, but I'm talking about for food and drinks in general. Manny Brown's is a slightly creepy sports bar on South St that's easy to miss. You'd do well to stop in the next Sunday you have available though, because the beer is reasonably priced, and the special of the day? $1.25 TACOS. If you're veggie just ask for beans instead. These are seriously good tacos and for the price they can't be beat. You can stuff your face and get tipsy nice and cheap. The service used to be bad but the miserable washed up hipster with the skunk spot seems to be gone, and the crew now is doing a great job. There's nowhere I'd rather spend a Sunday! EDIT 8/9/2008: Last time I stopped at MB's on a Sunday, Taco Day was gone. Strictly a mediocre bar without it.
- Pros: Taco Sundays!!
- Cons: Every other day!!!
Definitely Avoid
by burbgirl
As a former neighbor, I tried the place several times. The food is awful -- definitely not worth the money. Not to mention, that the bartender I dealt with on my last visit was very rude and had a serious attitude problem -- made me a drink w/ what she called "top shelf" tequila and refused to remake the drink when I indicated that it was awful. There are many other better bars to visit in the neighborhood.
- Pros: Usually Less Crowded than other Area Bars
- Cons: Rude Bartending Staff, Bad Food, Overpriced Drinks
