Love SSD!. I love the South Street Diner! Everything I have had here has been great, and I go at least twice a week! The Hungry Lady Special is great anytime of the day, and is such a deal!
worst experience. WAY BELOW THE ONE STAR. i ate here today 9/6/09, i definitely won't ever return. I ordered what was supposed to be chicken cordon bleu, but turned out not to be that. i would never order anything with mushrooms, but this had that and some crazy sauce. when i asked the waitress if i could order something different, she had to ask the manager. the manager took my plate away and brought it back- minus the mushrooms. it was still terrible. i ate one little piece, instantly was disgusted. i was charged for the meal. the worst thing i have ever had to deal with. never again will i go here to be served way below garbage and have to pay for it. thanks, but no thanks.
ATTEMPTED CREDIT CARD FRAUD.
I don't care how good your gyro or table service is...I went to this diner on friday june 5 and someone whether waitress or manager attempted to add money onto my credit card slip after it had been signed. luckily this was brought to my attention as they needed a new signature for the "new amount."
be careful w/ your credit card charge.
South Street Diner burns you at dinner if you are African American. Yes, I had the same experience, not only that, the burned me 3 times with extremely hot fettucine and no one offered to apologize. I even went to the hospital. I think they did it on purpose because each time I went there the same thing happened.
Great Hangover Place. Great place for hangover --- Great Breakfast --- Plenty of characters and people watching. Wait staff is pretty cool
racism still exists.
I've gone to this diner to dine in many times, and although the service is not that great its open late and the food is pretty good. More recently I've been getting take out in the early afternoon and I noticed the owner whose usually the cashier, a caucasian elderly man will not place anything in the hand of an african american. The first time it happened I brushed it off but after four separate occasions it was very obvious, especially after I saw him give money back to a caucasian woman in hand then when waiting on me. Placed credit card, receipt and pen on the table while my hand was in plain view reaching for these items and after I placed the same items in his hand. He even went around my hands once and placed my receipt and change on the counter. This was a old way of disrespecting african americans after the civil rights movement but apparently it is still being practiced at the south street diner. I don't think I want to eat somewhere where I'm being treated differently based on my skin color. If you don't believe me see for yourself.
...A disappointed customer.
Good breakfast.
Coffee, breakfast is good. Soups are usually good. never had a sandwich there, as I cant pass on ordering an omelette or something.
Noticed hours..isnt open as late as most diners are..whats up with that! Could be getting the post-bar crowd in there and make mad coin..not to mention feed us starving drunkards
everyday diner. good spot for a diner. too bad their food wasn't all that great. oregon diner is not too far away tho. for a diner, my coffee was only refilled once. my two cent: skip the south street omlette.
Americana a la mode. Great coffee and great classic american diner food. It's all there: meatloaf, mac'n'cheese, corned-beef sandwiches, pancakes, hoagies, pie, etc.!
goooood places to eat. good prices and good service. I like the type of crowd that comes their late at night
