Great Food & Service A++.
The atomosphere at the Saloon is simply incrediable! It is a great place to go if you want a nice steak or quality seafood.. yea, it can be expensive, but i believe you get what you pay for. I would recommend the Saloon to anyone!!
ps the chocolate chip cheesecake is a must!
Love this place!. My whole experience at the Saloon was great.. great service.. huge wine list.. exceptional food.. i will certainly be going back there very soon.
GO!. Can't get this place out of my head- and can't wait to go back. Everything was exceptional. Amazing pasta- and I usually don't go out to eat pasta- but this was from another world! Professional, happy staff made it an unexpectadly amazing evening. Just Go.
Hidden Gem in Bella Vista.
Went there last week for a business dinner. The food is amazing and is reason enough to make the trip! Their pasta is made in house at their bakery around the corner, so are their desserts. I had the ravioli (heavenly) and steak special- to die for! There are only 2-3 meals per year where I enjoy it enough to fantasize about it days after, this was one of them.
Although the restaurant is known for its attractive female staff, our server Anthony blew us away with his attentiveness. Gave us a complimentary appetizer and extra glasses of the wine we were drinking when we finished our first bottle. When I was trying to decide between 2 desserts, he brought BOTH of them out and didn't charge me for the 2nd one. By the way, I had the tiramisu and the raspberry napoleon, and both were absolutely wonderful.
They?ve been in business for almost 40 years, but do not advertise anywhere. It?s word of mouth only. If you?re looking for excellent food and something off the beaten path (and non- Stephen Starr), this is your place. Your dad will love it!
bad food great service. Living on past reputation.Visited on a friday night, the place was more than half empty.Outrageously expensive,$780 including tip for 6 people, including the 3 people that actually got sick later that night!!!! the service ,however, was the best I've had for some time.also, the restaurant is a great looking place.Won't go back, there are many, many, many better restaurants at half the price.
the only restaurant in philadelphia.
the saloon is always a must whenever i am in philadelphia. i have been dining here for the past 20 years & i always walk away even more impressed than my last meal.
the double veal chop is outstanding. i have honestly never had better anywhere in the country. probably the only place left in the city of philadelphia with a free parking lot. classic bar. what a fantastic philadelphia landmark. the saloon has it all. the best atomosphere, the best food, best bar & last but not least an attractive all female staff.
Poor, Poor, Poor.. That says it all, Poor, Poor, Poor. My friends and I were have a night out going from bar to bar and this place is one that we should have skipped. The only positive thing is that we did not stay long and we were able to use the bathroom.
Kudos from a Constant Business Diner.
I was fortunate enough to be there as a business dinner but this is one of the restaurants in North America that I'd gladly plunk down my own AMEX for. I ate at Saloon in February 2004 and it still ranks as one of my top three meals ever (View from Nikolai's Roof in Atlanta and Keane's in NYC).
I get to eat in quite a few nice restaurants for work and I consistently reference the food at Saloon (I had the Ribeye and Crab stuffed Mushrooms as an appetizer) as some of the best I've ever eaten.
Great for out of towners and a really neat setting as the random visitor would never expect such an excellent experience after the view from the street.
Old boys' club serves up rich dishes with undeniable Bella Vista class..
In Short
Dark wood, oil paintings and a well-tended bar make this a popular spot for the locals in this Italian neighborhood. Food is an affair here, featuring shrimp-stuffed tomatoes, charbroiled porterhouses and filets mignons, with sides of garlicky escarole, homemade linguine with seafood. Spinach and fontina-filled veal chops and lengthy fillets of bronzino in brown sauce are popular dishse as are the tiramisu and banana Napoleon.
User review by stevearini. Old type saloon settings with everything you need for a romantic dinner. Fast service with a personal touch.
