NEVER AGAIN. I've been to this bar a thousand times and never had a problem until------------. My boyfriend and I were there on a Sunday afternoon and were treated so badly by the girl bartender that we would never go there again. We were regulars or so we thought until this girl started cursing at us and treating us like South St. tourists. With the economy being as bad as it is, Can this place really afford to lose business over something as simple as manners or lack there of? I hope the owner reads this and demotes this piece of white trash to something more appropriate like dishwasher. Sorry Mom's you lost a longtime customer.
Drinkers BEWARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I totally agree with the overhype, listen, i look as you would call more "scene" than any but my personality is the difference and of course im looking for a place where i can relax and enjoy some of my own tunes and great prices. but this isnt it. The best relaxed place is the upstairs punk atmosphere, and only because the bumper car setting and smoking. Yeah PBR is cheap but not EVERYONE DRINKS SHI*TY BEER!!! The bartenders were no where to be found, I HAD TO GO ON A HUNT TO GET A DAMN DRINK, THEN THE BOUNCER EYE F*CKING ME AT THE DOOR BEFORE AND AFTER. The point is.....OVER FU*KING RATED. Oh and if your looking to meet barely dressed tattooed h**kers, so guys theres a plus...everyone else KEEP YOUR CHANGE!!!
Never kicked me out, even when they should have. we like to get loud. fortunately we like to invite everyone around us to join in the mayhem. The bouncees usually shake their heads at us or share the laugh. Tmoms has even accomodated us via Twitter, buying us rounds and greeting us when we get there.
pricey?.
Apparently some of the people that wrote past reviews have never had T-Moms 1 dollar PBR pounder.
Yes, ONE DOLLAR PBR pounders! The catch is that it's limited to before 11pm. But it only goes up to like 2 or 3 bucks after 11.
T-Moms is a great place to pregame (taking advantage of the cheap pounders) before you go out somewhere else.
It's a fun bar and near a lot of other bars to head out to after the beer goes up in price. A great night out is to bike to T-Moms, drink until 11 and then bike to the Barbary along Delaware (it has a nice bike lane) to finish up there.
The atmosphere without the attitude.
This is, without a doubt, the best bar on South Street. You get the punk dive atmosphere without the stereotypical typical punk dive attitude. Forget what the previous reviewer "sicksicksick" said. I'm from Jersey and have been going to Tattooed Mom for years. I've never had a problem, I've never been harrassed and I've never caught attitude. Ever. I've gone in short sleeves with my tattoos showing, and I've gone in looking like your average joe...and have been treated exactly the same...very well by the staff.
You can be social in Tattooed Mom...you just have to know your atmosphere. You can't expect everyone to be DYING to talk to you...but if you politely add something to an open conversation...you'll find you'll fit in as long as you're up on your bar etiquette. The locals & regulars get first glance as far as service...as well it should be. However, no matter how crowded it's been...I've never gone an unreasonable amount of time without being taken care of.
The food is good and they have vegetarian-friendly options. I usually go with the veggie-burger and it's always tasty. In my opinion, both the food & drinks are very reasonably priced, though I only drink beer when I'm here...so I don't know what they charge for liquor.
For the uninitiated...if you go to Tattooed Mom, be yourself...don't pretend to be something you aren't...and don't expect people to either love or hate you based on whether or no you're part of their "scene". Just go there to have a few drinks, eat some good food and enjoy a killer jukebox...and you'll have a good time.
AWESOME. this is a great laidback place - ladies, come here if you don't want a ton of frat boys hitting on you - sicksicksick is clearly an idiot - sorry sweetcheeks, not everyone goes to bars to "make conversation" - take yourself to Dave and Busters instead ~ yummy food too, good beer - what more can you ask for ?
Overhyped Bar Hosts Punk Rock Elite, Won't Let You Forget It. Tattoed Mom has been touted as being the spot to be if you are into rock 'n' roll, tattoos or subculture-themed ambience. Upon walking through the door on my first visit, I expected a relaxed atmosphere, but partaking in the sights and scenes of the bar was delayed for about five minutes while the bouncer studied and scrutinized my Jersey license photo. I would have thought that plenty of Jerseyans would have visited, some of whom would've had licences that were obtained while still underage (hence the profile picture) and that the bouncer would be trained to look at birthdates. Scrutiny of my license aside, I kept an open mind as I walked upstairs and observed the regulars in their natural habitat. The bar attempts to achieve kitsch with beads, thread, crayons, lollipops and nickel party favors at each seat, but the novelty is lost on most customers, who seem to be at the bar not because it is a great bar, but because as tattooed people they are supposed to be there. No one I encountered was quick to talk, including the bartenders. This produced an awkward atmosphere not at all open or happy as I'd expected. The bartender himself was quite uncreative, and when I asked him to make me a mixed drink with vodka, he simply poured the most expensive vodka on the shevles into some seltzer water and charged me seven dollars. When I timidly explained that I was looking for something with a little more flavor (without being overbearingly sweet), he handed me a lemon. I can't blame him for my own vagueness, but here again is where the hype comes into play: when I thought of Mom's before, I'd think of big crowds and knowledgable, albiet slightly surly-looking bartenders with a drink for everyone. Mom's is a quaint, overpriced bar that tries to force on its customers an atmosphere and attitude in which its customers do not wish to partake. Instead of being loud, fun, raunchy and cheap, it's loud, isolating, faux-raunchy and not at all cheap.
Great place to listen to a loud jukebox and have a couple drinks!. I love Tattooed Mom. There's writing all over the walls, go karts to sit in, and a loud jukebox with lots of metal and punk on it. The drink selection is pretty good, and they have special food days of the week. (Taco Tuesday is my favorite.) PLUS, every Easter they have Zombie Pub Crawl which is the most amazing thing I've ever done in the city.
Great Service. Tattooed Mom's is a great place to go if you want to get away from the insanity that is South Street. Good food, good people, great service. We usually go to eat and stay downstairs. Their Jukebox selection is phenomenal.
Overpriced. This is supposed to be a dive bar? Sure, I expect nasty shots from plastic bottles...but for 7$ a pop? Sorry this place is awful and the new paint job can't hide it. The bartenders carefully cultivate a seriously rude attitude and only if you become a regular can you expect service or drinks for a decent price.
