Lovely little Italian cookies that go great with tea. Think: almond horns, pizelles, and ricotta cookies.

The Holy Grail of cannoli, my friends. If you don't like them you should probably move to another city.

Their cannolis aren't as good as Termini's, but walking by the store, it smells so deliciously buttery.

Never again. Overpriced and poor quality made me regret my purchase.

Disappointed. I have been using Isgros for quite some time and have referred several friends, friends, family andseveral co-workers to purchase their cakes there. In the last month I ordered a birthday cake - was ok as far as the cake but I was always so impressed with the way they were decorated....for some reason it didn't have the same artistic presentation. Frankly, it didn't look much better than what I can do. Maybe an off day? I thought....until last week, when a friend called me saying she went to her cousin's wedding and the cake was purchased from Isgros - she said it looked so unprofessional and the bride was very disappointed. I felt horrible, I was the person who told her to order the cake there, telling her she would not be disappointed.

Brides-to-Be.....be careful....because, what you see in a photo may not be what you will get. Also, if you are diappointed in the presentation of the cake, make sure you let them know....unfortunately, this woman was too nice and didn't want to say anything.

I think Isgros is not what it use to be.

I also agree with the review of Never again....they do act inconsiderate at times, I think the people who deal with the customers should try a little harder to please their customers. Stop acting like they are doing us a favor and understand that we are spending alot of money in their store.

Never again. For a place that's been around so long, they act like inconsiderate and inept amateurs. Avoid them at all costs, unless you like taking risks.

Isgro's made what was apparently a delicious and beautiful cake for my wedding. Unfortunately, I only got one bite, and the cake topper that we froze got ruined. So a little over a year later, for my birthday, my wife and I decided to order a replica of the cake topper as my birthday cake. We order it on a Sunday to be picked up the following Saturday morning - the day we're moving out of South Philly. I show up exactly at 9, when I'd agreed to pick it up. Oops, they forgot. "Please come back tomorrow mid-day," they say.

So I show up the next day, patiently taking a special trip back to the city on my birthday itself, in the middle of a hectic move. I stand in a 25-minute line and when they finally call my number, they tell me that they forgot again. I did NOT have time this weekend to head over there twice, and it really helped to ruin what was already a frustrating and tiring birthday weekend. Just the icing on a really bad cake, so to speak.

By all means, if you like taking risks with special orders, go to Isgro's. Roll the dice, see if they bother remembering you. If they forget, you can roll the dice AGAIN and see if they forget you twice. Apparently, they have more important things to do than take your money and make cakes and pastries.

Bad Luck, Bad Service, Bad taster in our mouths. We called to order a cannoli cake for a birthday. We were told that we didn't need to, they always had them, and the man we talked to wouldn't take an order. When we showed up to get a cake, the clerk basically laughed at us and said they had to be special ordered. When we asked for at least a discount if we ordered one then for the next day (AFTER THE BIRTHDAY) we were told no way. Special occasions are special for a reason and we will not be relying on them anymore for anything other than cannoli if we go back at all.

Baking mouth-watering Italian-American pastries for nearly a century.. The Scene
Since 1904, this small, family-run pasticceria on the edge of the Italian Market has served some of the city's finest cannoli, cookies, cakes and chocolate-covered bananas. To waft the warm aroma of baking sweets, to watch the staff hand fill the cannoli, and to ponder the thousands of sugary delights behind glass cases--these daily Isgro delights make the trip to Christian Street a treat.

The Goodies
You'll find seasonal birthday cakes, ricotta baba rhum and fogliatella to accompany your coffee, butter cookies, Flyers cupcakes and jelly-filled croissants. Isgro's wedding cakes range from butter pound cake classics to more inventive delights like hazelnut genoise or chocolate cake with layers of ganache and raspberry jam. The decoration--sugar roses, fresh orchids, shiny ribbons--depends upon your taste. But plan far ahead: Isgro's reputation and attention to detail on each cake means the bakery can fill only a limited number of orders per month.

Ditch the diet here.... A wide range of italian pastry delights await those in need of carbohydrates. Excellent cannoli, napoleons, and strawberry shortcakes. The key lime tart was so-so, and the cookies seem like they have been shipped in from elsewhere, so don't bother with these and order another napoleon instead.
