Best Thin Pizza in Philly. Lazaro's is the best pie in the city. I am only sorry I lived in the city since I was 22 and did not find them til the age of 28. It's like a NY style pie with paper thin crust and the best sweet sauce. We usually get extra cheese, also. I have to say, I have never had bad service there. They are always very nice to the point that I thought they had great customer service, and am shocked to see so many people say otherwise. Go get this pie - you will not regret it if you like the thin foldable style pizza.
Sometimes surly service but really good food. The people working there can be a bit surly but the food is good and it's always delivered hot and fast. I'd give the pizza a B or maybe a B+ (although I have friends who rate it the best), and I'd give the steaks, hoagies and burgers an enthusiastic A. Overall, the best place of its kind in the Rittenhouse Square area.
GOOOOOOD!!!. Thinking the delivery guy would call me on a specific mobile phone of mine...I carried that one phone in my pocket waiting for the call. He called on another phone of mine which was in a different part of the house. Finally he rang my doorbell and delivered the food. When I got back to my kitchen I see my second phone indicating a missed call...I listen to the message and it's the Lazaro's delivery guy saying, and I quote, "ANSWER YOUR F_CKING PHONE! SH_T". Nice. I used to order from Lazaro's frequently...NEVER AGAIN! Bastards!
Dont waste your time... This place is horrible. The service is just as bad or maybe even worst than their pizza.Taste like GARBAGE!.. I dont expect everyone to be friendly but if I'm standing there for 5 mins and there no one else around, I probably want to order something, I can say something but I shouldn't have to..
Disappointing. Do not get the specialty pizzas. The ingredients were not fresh. The pizza did not taste good.
Best Pizza in the CITY..
This is by far the best pizza I've had in Philadelphia. The crust is toasted just right, and it's thin, but not so thin that you can't enjoy it. The sauce is perfect...sort of sweet, but not too sweet, and always the perfect amount. Even better, the pizza always arrives at my front door like it JUST CAME OUT OF THE OVEN. Never soggy, always so steaming hot it could burn your mouth if you're not careful. Not only are their traditional pizzas amazing, their White Neopolitan pizzas are FANTASTIC. The White Neopolitan Broccoli pizza is definitely an all time favorite. Delivery service is always right on time, unless it's a holiday or the Super Bowl...
Lazaro's is the BEST.
love it..
tasty, fast, cheap and they deliver. can't really beat that. also their portions are large so there are usually left overs which is always good.
I've been ordering from them for over a year and don't have a single complaint.
Lazaro's customers rep to the death.
If you don't like Lazaro's, don't play the blame game. It's your fault. If they hung up on you, it's because you were wasting their time with your stupidity. If you didn't like the sauce, then you need to wake up and realize that you don't like pizza. Because it's pizza sauce. If you got a weak hoagie, it's because it's not a deli. You don't go to the hospital to get your car fixed. Lazaro's is rock solid, they're quick, economic, and consistent. You get the same pizza any day you go in there. The crust is thin, but not thin enough to be classified as "thin-crust", and is toasted to perfection. Too much cheese? You're fraudulent, as you can see the sauce through the cheese. There's enough sauce to provide flavor, but not too much as to prevent adhesion of the cheese and toppings. If things slide off, then you're a dope, a clumsy pizza eater. It was too much for you to handle, it's ok.
And the food is HUGE. Nobody makes a bigger pizza, alot of places claim to have the biggest, but they are un-educated. Lazaro's claim a large steak is 24",but it's more like 30, and scrumptious if you're into fine-chop steaks. Pepperoni pizza steak, please. You can feel it killing you. Please do yourself a favor and try a Fat Cat. A lot of people aren't familiar with "Cheeseburger hoagies", Lazaro's is dead on, with bacon AND french fries on it, oh yeah.
And please, anybody commenting on ANY pizza, I swear, what is the deal with complaining about "sauce is too sweet in Philly"? Too sweet?? Please explain, do you want it to taste bland? Or bitter? What? Because I've eaten pizza in NY, I've eaten pizza in New Jersey, and dude, I hate to break it to you, but there's no difference in sauce. It's all sauce. Pizza sauce. They sell it wholesale, with the flour, and the cheese.
Medium wings were a bit weak.
Good pizza, great stromboli, but the wings (the 'medium' flavor) were sweet and tasted a bit too much like General Tso chicken (the Chinese dish).
If anyone has a better suggestion for pizza in the Graduate Hospital/Rittenhouse Square area, I'd like to hear it.
Best Pizza Shop in Center City. This is the only review you need to read: Lazaro's is the best pizza shop in Center City. We're talking "pizza shop" here, people. You can get an awesome octopus pizza at Osteria: that's not what we're comparing. This is the best place to go when you want to "grab a slice" because you're in the mood and you want it to taste like the pizzas you grew up loving. This is the type of place where a "parm" sandwich tastes and looks like a chicken parm should. The staff is rude 'cause that's how the staff at a pizza shop is supposed to be. I'd never trust a slice served with a smile: what are they trying to hide? Agreed from a previous review: if someone says they don't like the pie, they probably went to junior high in New Mexico; and if your from the Southwest, stay out of Lazaro's -- we don't feel like wasting our time flashing you fake smiles and hearing your complaints. The truth.
