Tips for Bree's Animal Hospital

May 16, 2013

from Kelly D., contrary to what MARIO says below, Dr. Marc is an excellent vet! I Actually knew Dr.Bree when he practiced and treated our pets, and have no problem that Dr. Marc's practice carries on the name. I first came back to Brees animal hospital when I needed a vet for my mother in laws 18 yr old dog, I was thankful to meet such a compasionate yet straite forward vet. He took such excellent care of my mother in laws dog that when my aunts cat got sick I took her there , and since have switched from my old vet and now take my pets to Brees animal hosp. too. I am particular though, I will only have my pets seen by Dr. Marc or Dr. Aries whom I've known for years. Both are excellent Vets and truly caring people. Its not that theres anything wrong with the other drs. I just don't know them. I have recommended several of my friends to Dr.Marc, and will continue to do so. Good vets are hard to find, Im thankful for the vets in my pets lives!!!!!

This is a fantastic Veterinary Hospital!!! My dog is 4 years old (black lab) and I've been taking her to Brees since she was a puppy at the recommendation of my Aunt who takes her cats there. I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. The staff is extremely competent and professional and always takes amazing care of my baby. She has had 2 surgeries there, spaying and most recently anal gland removal. If you know anything about that you know how complicated the surgery is, if you don’t look it up and be thankful your pet doesn’t need it. Anyway, my dog has had 0 complications post-surgery and the Vet called 3 times after to check on her. I wouldn't take my baby anywhere else. These vets know what they’re doing. My dog has had problems with her anal glands since she was a year old. I had to take her every few months to have them expressed. Eventually it got worse and I had to take her every month. That’s when I asked about surgery. Dr Marc was very honest and said that it was a complex procedure and can have bad side effects (such has urinary and fecal incontinence), and instead suggested that he teach me how to express them myself so I wouldn’t be spending so much money. I decided to do that (not fun) and it worked out for about 9 months. Eventually she got worse and I was doing it every week and she would still leak anal fluids and be uncomfortable so I decided to go ahead with the surgery. As I stated previously, there have been absolutely no compilations and the Vets and staff have always been there to answer all my post-op questions. I trust the staff and Vets here completely. Highly recommend!!!

The Worst Vets in the city !! Any positive review must be from members of his large extended family. The vets are barely competent. They completely mis-diagnoised my adopted dog's diarrhea, telling me that her diarrhea was actually hiding a discharge from her infected uterus and that this was an emergency! -she would soon die from infection if I didn't leave her to be spayed. He warned me that because of the infection it would be a dangerous surgery, with days in the hospital and would be very expensive. He said all of this with the most caring voice and sympathetic face you could imagine-such good acting! Who wouldn't believe him? However, he became very upset and nasty when I refused to leave her. I left because I knew she had already been spayed!!! I took her to another vet who checked the stool, verified parasites, gave medication and sent us home. Within a couple of days, her stool was normal and she has been the picture of health ever since. I can't believe how close I came to being robbed and leaving my best gal in their slimy hands. With so many choices of skilled and experienced vets available, there is no excuse to subject your pet to this place.

PS- There is no Dr Bree -apparently he sold the business 20 years ago. So why are they still using anothers reputation rather than their own? are they afraid to use their own names?

Bree's Animal Hospital. My rescue dog of 1 year from the ASPCA had not been eating for a few days and her normally hyper and energetic self was being very different, We took her to the Vet at the ASPCA and they had explained they needed to do an Xray to determine if there was an obstruction in her intestines. They palpated her said yes she needs an XRay, upon viewing the films the physician stated that the obstruction had traveled from her stomach to her intestines and therefore she needed emergency surgery to save her life because her intestines could rupture. We took her to Bree's Animal hospital and they immediately got to work on my baby. They admitted her, we left after saying our "see ya laters" . About 2 hours later the physician called us and asked us to come in to talk to him. We drove there immediately. Apparently, my dog actually had an inflammed spleen, and it had ruptured. They removed her spleen and to their amazement it was 3x's the normal size and was covered in Cancer Tumors. They explained that due to the spleen rupturing her blood loss was intense and she needed an emergency blood transfusion, The Tech Donna immediately rushed to her Grandmother's home to retrieve her dog and use that dog to tranfuse blood to save my dog's life!!!! Lee sat with my Kasha for hours to ensure she was stable and treated her like her own dog. We came to see our baby and she ws very sick. The entire staff was so worried about our Kasha that they went to the resteraunt to buy her steak since she was not eating the dog food they had given her inititally to eat. There were about 5 of our family members inside the kennel rooom to vist Kasha and they allowed us to stay with her for as long as we wanted to. They sent a peice of the bad Spleen to get a biopsy to see if the cancer had spread any where else in her body. Kasha will be going home today to be with us and we will anxiously await these results. Everyone has their own experience with everything they do in life, and some may have had bad experiences and some may have had good ones, there is no pleasing everyone, but please be sure to know that these people saved my Kasha's life and we can never repay them!!!! They are compassionate, Empathetic, and very loving. Thank you all for giving our Kasha a second chance at life!!! The Regalbuto Family!!

Dr. Marc & Dr. Conrad. My vet of many years no longer had an office close to my home. I needed to find a new vet that was also full facility. I had been to Bree

Bree's is worst animal hospital in NE Philly !. If you want the easy way out, go to Bree's because it is on Frankford Ave and the clinic type hours allow you some flexibility. If you seek uncaring, unskilled and rude staff treating your pets and yourself, then yes, Bree's is the place for you.

If you prefer a vet that stays up on education, treats your pets with the proper care along with love and attention, then you need to go elsewhere.

My last straw was watching the older vet stick my puppy 8 times to draw blood, never give me any treatment or recommendations. If I did not think fast enough to contact another vet (Rockledge Vet) my puppy would have died from an infection.

Worst Vet in NE Philly -- don't settle. Go elsewhere for real care. The differences are amazing.

Why I love Bree's Animal Hospital. I have been going to Dr. Conrad for 35 plus years with all of my 5 dogs(babies).

He and Dr. Marc are the best!!! I and my (girls) dogs have always been treated with respect, kindness and compassion. The office staff is always helpful, whether I am in the office for a visit or I am calling from home for advice or have a question that needs an answer.

I travel 60 plus miles for my visits to see the Drs. I know that on two separate occasions and with two different dogs, Dr. Conrad saved their lives and kept them with me longer than expected, and with a good quality of life.

With one dog, she needed a very risky surgery on her spleen, and the chances of survival were very slim. Dr. Conrad explained all of the risks involved. Even if it was a success, chances of living past 3 months was about all I should expect, which I understood. I opted to have the surgery done, it was successful, and she lived another nine months!!

The times when I've had to say "goodbye" to my dogs, the Drs. and office staff have been nothing but KIND, SYMPATHETIC, and COMPASSIONATE to my feelings and the final comfort of my pets. They give you as much time as you need and give you comfort in that loss.

I am so grateful for the treatment that my dogs have received over the years.

I will continue to recommend Bree's to my friends. Thank you for all that you do for animals!

NEVER AGAIN!. my parents have been taking their animals to bree's since before i was even born.. when i got my own dog in 2004, i took him to bree's for shots, check-up's, boarding, etc.. he was 10 months old when i got him..

my dog (lhasa apso) peed all the time.. when i took him to get his shots, i asked the vet why my dog peed so much.. the vet said, "small dogs have small bladders".. okay fine, it kind of makes sense.. i took my dog back the following year for shots, and asked again why my dog keeps peeing so much in little streams.. i was told, "well, since he isn't fixed, his reproductive organs are resting on his bladder".. they never did blood works, x-rays, or any type of tests on my dog!..

anyways, i boarded my dog in april, 2008 for a week while i went on vacation.. as soon as my plane landed, i called the vet's office and asked if i could pick up my dog that night and they said yes.. needless to say, i got to bree's at about 7:55pm and went in to get my dog.. they said "oh, he just pooped in his cage and we need to clean him up first".. i said, "okay, not a problem, do you need any help?".. they said "no, it won't take long".. about 15min go by and i am waiting impatiently.. a lady came out and said, "your dog is being aggressive and won't let us clean him up".. so i went back to the exam room where she has my dog sitting up on the table.. my dog's had poop STUCK on his butt that was NOT recent.. it was stuck on him for days, if not a full week!.. i told her, "forget it, i will give him a bath when i get home and i will clean him up"..

so i get my little guy home, give him a bath, and literally had to cut the poop off of his butt.. it was attached to the skin around his hole.. my poor dog whimpered and cried since he hole was bleeding and infected.. i had to call Univ of Penn's vets to find out what i could use on him.. so after a 6 hour flight home, i had to run out to rite aid at 10pm to get neosporin original ointment for my dog's infected butt.. needless to say, i had to do "treatments" on his butt for a week straight b/c of their neglect!..

i called them the next day to complain and they said, "your dog was aggressive when we tried to approach him.. that's your problem, not ours!".. i said, "oh please!.. my dog is 17lb and his teeth are a 1/4 size of a tic-tac!.. it's called a muzzle, use that!".. the lady never said anything back to me, but the call got "disconnected".. i called back and it just kept ringing..

needless to say, b/c of bree's neglect and not doing ANY tests, my dog wound up having an enlarged prostate, which bensalem veterinary hospital picked up as soon as i brought my dog in there feb, 2010!..

as far as i'm concerned, bree's is terrible, rude, and very inconsiderate of the animals AND their families!..

i was told that no staff is there b/t 10pm-6am.. okay, last time i checked, "hospitals" don't close for nights, holidays, weekends, etc..

i hope the BBB shuts your place down b/c your vets suck, your staff is rude, and your place is dirty and smells disgusting!..

p.s.- to the person who said "it's all white trash that comes into bree's".. excuse me?.. don't classify every single person in NE philly b/c i am normally a nice person.. if you show me respect, i will show you the same in return.. but when that staff wants to get loud with me, i will get loud with them right back.. and to neglect a poor innocent dog, who i consider a son, is completely uncalled for, so yes i am going to argue with them..

SAVE YOUR TIME AND FRUSTRATION GOING TO BREE'S AND GO TO BENSALEM VETERINARY HOSPITAL!

BEWARE. I took my cat to bree's and Dr Marc dignosed my cat with conjuntivits (herpes in his eye) This doctor did Not take any tests, blood work, or so on. He wipes my cat's eye, stuck a flashlight up to his eye and said he had this chemosis(Pink Eye) That was it now it's time to buy the meds. I used everything he told me to purchased and nothing worked. Trying to get this doctor on the phone forget it! he has his gum popping bimbo's there to answer all the calls and give advice when they are not trained as a vet doctor. Anyway, my cat didn't heal and these people kept having me take my cat back and forth until the last visit in October. Now here comes the other vet Conrad. he looked at my cat's eye and said my cat needs to have blood work? After all this time and now this is said. He than asked me to sign this paper and his assitant came in the room checking down all these things. which the bill so far would come to $570.00 I told him I didn't have the money like that. and why did after all this time I'm thinking they didn't do this in the beggining. These meds they told me to buy was for something now they don't know and want to take blood work to find out what it is. so I'm using these meds for months and watching my cat become more and more sick, I knew something wasn't right. Now I called him and told him that will my cat have to get more medications for his eye. Rudely enough I'm told the Doctor is not going to let you buy anymore meds until I come up with the $570.00 for the blood work and that's only the start. I was refused medication for my cat now. I was through with these gold digging money hungry bastards! I took my cat to Noah's Ark and the vet there who has compassion and truly love animals walked over to my cat seen him and looked at my cat like he was truly bad off. no thanks to all those meds. She felt my cat's body and shook her head and than opned his mouth and said my cat has cancer in the mouth. Something Dr Marc and Conrad didn't even do simply opened his mouth and seen this. I don't know if my cat will survive after all of this but she is going to do all she can bless her. but no thanks to these two doctor's who played with my cat's and treatment. These doctors are heartless and they want your money only. Most these good reviews are no doubt his gum popping bimbo's who are writing them as great reviews they should they just sit there and have nothing more to do. You don't have to take my word for it and your going to do what you want to do anyway but as my cat is in the hospital now and things don't look good unless a miracle happens thanks to these two bastards for wasting my cat's time and misdignosing with pink eye when it's cancer YOU IDIOTS! I'm not going to even tell you not to go here enter at your own risk but for the love of your pets look around first and Noah's Ark is the only place I highly suggest a Vet who has compassion, Care and Lots of Love. Not to mention she's done her homework. Not like Marc And Conrad. Doctors? No I don't think so maybe by title but not by education. Just please Beware. I wouldn't want this to happen to your pets like it is happening my my cat now. I have nothing to gain by writing this apart from to let other's be informed by what is truth and the truth speaks for itself. Just Beware please for your animals sakes...
