What People Are Saying About Rose Tattoo Cafe

In Short – Originally a New-Orleans-inspired establishment, the Rose Tattoo has retained the look of the French Quarter with copious wrought iron railings, lush plants, strands of white lights and deep-hued carpets and walls. There are plenty of appetizers, but save room for generously portioned entrees such as bleu cheese topped filet mignon or glazed salmon with asparagus.
Editor's Tips
- Where To Sit:
- Take you pick from The Rose's two bars: one plant-populated island in the center of the dining room, and another older bar, casual and cozy with stained glass and carved Indian panels.
- Know Before You Go:
- Borrow a silent dining companion from at The Free Library.

we were recomended by many people and just had to try the restaurant. The decor was absolutely beautiful and the drinks at the gorgeous bar were great! Once we sat down, however, things were different. Our server was friendly at first, but, that quickly changed as we asked questions about the menu. When she told us that they were out of the steak entree and we expressed disappoinment because we were looking forward to ordering that, she told us we could order the "Special" which was a filet mignon with crab meat. (Not exactly what we wanted but it was the only other beef entree available). We don't eat seafood and when we asked our server if we could have the filet prepared without the crabmeat , she was clearly annoyed. We went back and forth trying to "create" a steak entree that somewhat resembled what they had run out of and all the while our server was getting more and more angry! The meal ended up being delicious, however, there was a bit of a damper because of the attitude of the server. It seemed that she really had no desire to accomdate us and frankly, I never had to work so hard to order a meal. Aside from that, everything else was delicious and the apple cobbler dessert was amazing! I am sure that had we been treated differently, the meal would've been more enjoyable!
- Pros: great drinks
- Cons: they run out of entrees
Best dining in Philly

Me and my wife went there last night for dinner. 30th Birthday. We had a reservation for 8:15PM. We arrived at 7:30PM. We were greeted at the door and told our table was ready and waiting for us. The overall service was very good throughout the dinner. The food was out of this world. Nice sized portions. You will not leave here hungry or disappointed. We started with the cream of mushroom soup and the caesar basket. The soup was at a ready to eat temperature not piping hot nor too cold. The Caesar salad came in a tortilla shell shaped in a basket with a side of crispy bread. We continued with the four cheese tortellini with smoked chicken and the pan seared salmon. Which were both perfectly prepared. Words can not do these dishes justice. They were both mind blowing. Those two entrees alone are well worth a visit. For dessert we had the white and black brulee and rose tattoo fudge brownie. Again excellent. Finally the scenary. The plants, the flowers, and the music. FANTASTIC!!!. We received a romantic table on the second floor overlooking the bar and other patrons. Highly recommended. We will be back ASAP.
- Pros: Excellent service, food, scenary,
- Cons: We had no problem. but parking could be tight.
The BEST place in town!

I have been living in this area for 4 years now and only just tried this place last weekend. It is simply amazing!! The decor is very interesting with hanging plants from the ceiling. A must try is the atlantic salmon which is to die for and the desserts which are all great! big portions too! this place has both quantity and quality. I am taking everyone I know here!
My only regret was that I wasn't introduced to this place 4 years ago...
- Pros: Food, dessert, everything...
- Cons: none

I met a friend of mine here this past Friday for drinks and appetizers. I love the fact The Rose Tattoo has a light fare menu. The food was amazing. We ordered the Four Cheese Tortellini, Crispy Calamari/Shrimp with mustard aioli and loster quesadilla. Our bartender was lovely. I will definitely be back.

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. I decided to take this trip for my mother's birthday after reading the reviews and hearing my co-worker continuously rave about the food. The ambience was lovely, and the service was great as well. We were greeted by a very friendly host who showed us to our seats (upstairs on the inside balcony, where all of the flowers are). My mother ordered the Bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp for starters (delicious), and for my entree I ordered the salmon with jumbo shrimp and crabmeat (to DIE for). My boyfriend ordered the porkchop ( which was huge, tender, and flavorful). Everyone who assisted in serving us was wonderful, friendly and accomodating. All three of us enjoyed our meals and can't wait to return. I highly recommend this place!!!
- Pros: Beautiful atomosphere and delicious food.
- Cons: Nothing
