Editorial Review for Bridgid's – by Jim Anderson

The Scene
At the front of the fire-lit dining room is a cramped, lace-curtained bar, where foreigners, neighborhood intellectuals, and beer nuts alike enjoy faux-European charm among walls crammed with vintage advertising art.

The Fare
The menu is an immense collection of lower-priced items that range from freezer-to-fryer appetizers to actual prepared entrees. Beware: The offerings are not always the bargain that they appear to be, but they are passable for the purposes of accompanying whatever selection you make from the immense beer menu. While no longer a leader among America's beer bars, the spoils from that former glory remain, including a re-creation of the original DownDraft beer system.

Insider Tips

What To Drink

There's always something new to try: The draft selections change as often as the taps run out.

Know Before You Go

This tattered and well-worn room still serves up the same honest and tasty fare that made the one-time neighborhood tavern so popular.

When to Drink

Weekday Happy Hours (4pm-6pm) sees $2 off Bridgid's coveted drafts and a buck off other drinks at the bar.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Brigid's is thoroughly unpretentious without being a dive. The beer list is extensive and there is usually a good Belgian on tap. The menu is eclectic and changes regularly. Be sure to try the chicken fingers!

Pros: Beer selection, chicken fingers

Cons: None

Bridgid's is great. The menu isn't huge, nor is it small. The beer list, however, is huge. Great beers and an always changing tap. From the Duvel to Chimay to Yuengling, it's all here. Beyond that, the food is just as good as the beer, and it's reasonably priced. It is small, but that's certainly part of the atmosphere, and the staff is always kind and friendly. You owe it to yourself to go here if you fancy good bear and good food.

Pros: Great beer, great food.

Cons: Parking can be a little hard to find in that area on weekends.
