yes, good beer, but also great burger. i will have this burger again, and if it is again as good, then i will really claim this place has a good burger. A place to take someone looking for a good burger and beer.

best bar in manayunk. Great food and great beer. Bartenders are very intelligent when it comes to the beers in there. Very nice staff once you get talking to them. I used to go in every tuesday and even the youngers guys working were very knowledgeable of the all the beer.

p.s.= "im1dermike" I bartend at a place an south jersey and they throwing of the ice is only done when someone is acting like an as s hole.

Good beer selection, bad staff. I don't live in Manayunk, but a good friend of mine does. I had heard good things about their beer selection and figured I would give this place a shot. It was very crowded and small, but I wouldn't hold it against this place since it was a relatively warm Saturday night during the Winter. The guy playing guitar was playing the kind of songs you would expect at a college town bar, but his voice was awful. Still, I came for the beer and not the music. There was a really good selection on draft and in bottle. I decided to try their special on tap (Magic Hat I.P.A). I like most Magic Hat beers and consider myself pretty knowledgeable of what goes into a beer and what a beer should taste like. The beer had a foul smell and taste. It wasn't just something I didn't like, it was just foul. Something was wrong with the keg or the tap. I waited awhile to get one of the bartenders attention (only two bartenders for a lot of people). I told him something was wrong with the beer. He laughed and said that everyone else was drinking it so it must be me. I asked him to smell the beer, but he refused and walked away. Maybe people were drinking it because they were wasted and couldn't tell the difference.I left my full beer at the bar and left.

I would maybe give this place a second chance on a weekday night to get a better feel for it, but that was a horrible first impression. Crappy guy on guitar and a crappy attitude from the bartender. If you are going to pride yourself on a good selection of beer, you should take pride in what you serve. That wouldn't happen at a place like Monks or any place that cares what their customers say.

Quality beer bar. I enjoy Flat Rock, especially their 25 cent wing nights (Tuesdays). The wings are huge. Of course they have a great beer selection too. The wait staff are nice and unassuming, but the bartenders (two older guys) are absolutely miserable. Unapproachable. One even threw an ice cube at my friend one evening when he was jamming out to a live band. It's also fairly small. The staff told me they didn't have a bathroom installed upstairs yet and, thusly, couldn't have it open (although they said they would open it to us if we wanted). This was three years ago... All in all, above average beer and food, good atmosphere, but don't expect friendliness from the bartenders.

Great Beer n Tunes. All I have to say is that if you are looking for a great bar to chill and end the night out at it has to be the Flat Rock simply for the great selection of beer and the great tunes of either Ken Kweeder or David Duong!!! Great crowd and a chill atmosphere!!

A pub for when you're feeling nostalgic for a frat house, but have outgrown keg beer and party fouls.. In Short
The crowd of casually dressed young professionals and recent grads hail from Manayunk and nearby suburbs and still keep in touch with their Greek sisters and brothers. Weekend and Wednesday wing nights pack 'em in so tightly you'll remember what it was like to be at the end of the keg line. Bob, the owner and head bartender, showcases his faves on smaller boards behind the bar.

Best on Main Street. I've been here a few times. This place has an excellent selection of beer and the staff will always help you select a brew that fits your mood. As far as the food goes, I've only sampled the wings and they rock. Try the BBQ flavored. Wing night is Tuesday and you can grab a whole heaping plate full for a few bucks. The Flat Rock is my favorite bar on Main Street, Manayunk.

good selection of beer. the Flat Rock is a good laid back manayunk hangout. they always have a good, diverse selection of bottled and draft micro-brews. it can get crowded on weekends but thats ok. most of the people here are ok to hang out with
