Editorial Review for Johnny Brenda's – by Lauren McCutcheon
The Scene
It would be easy to mistake the place for a dive, what with its glass-tile windows, wood paneling, red holiday lights and neon jukebox. But look closer, and you'll notice the red-and-white striped floor, shiny, silver open kitchen and artsy lights hanging over the red pool table. The customers are a tip-off, too: effortlessly hip film-crew members, indie rockers and artists escaping the now-trendy Northern Liberties. Scattered among the newcomers are a few Fishtown lifers who were perched on Brenda's stools before its boxer namesake sold it to the minds behind Standard Tap.
The Draw
Come because it's the next cool place to chill. Then come back for the tasty and reasonably priced fare. Juicy, tender and garlicky pork tenderloin; generous and meaty flank steak; sausage sandwiches; tasty swordfish or lamb kabobs--all for less than $10--go great with $4 pints of Victory, Yards and Flying Fish.

JB's carries only local draft which is a great reason to go there on its own. On top of that, there open kitchen puts out some quality grub. The menu leans toward Mediterranean - they grilled octopus is some of the best that I've had and you can not beat JB's prices!
Pros: Beer Selection, Prices, Atmoshere

JB has good food for a good price all the time. Nice vibe, good beer selection, good mixed crowd. Service can be slow/indifferent and the place can be smoky and quite loud weekend nights. Overall, a great addition to the local scene and a good value.
Pros: food, price, quality
Cons: smoke (weekend), noise (weekend), parking
