In Short – Since its founding in 1966, Freedom Theatre has built an impressive program that combines drama, comedy, and musical performances with education and outreach to diverse audiences. Though best-known for its holiday classic, "Black Nativity," which won the 1994 Barrymore Award for Theatre Excellence in Choreography, Freedom has deep roots in many facets of African-American theater tradition.
