Well, Oteri's is neither dirty nor is it attached to a jewelry store (not for about five years now). They've since taken out the jewelry store and expanded the bakery, putting in a gelato section that is, like everything else in this store, heavenly. They have an assortment of both Italian and Spanish cakes and pastries. Italian creme cake can be found alongside flan, tembleque, and German chocolate cake. Granted, the neighborhood is a war zone and parking is precarious at best. They have a tiny parking lot on the left-hand side of the bakery, but enter and exit at your own risk. But the aggravation is worth it for some heavenly treats - and some of which you can get last-minute (if you're in a crunch for a birthday cake that's great-tasting and cheap, too).

I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this place before. I get my cakes for all family events and birthdays from Oteri's bakery. They never let me down and never cease to amaze me. They have pre-made designed cakes for those last minute purchases or you could order ahead of time and get the cake just how you like it the day of the event. You could pick one of their designs, switch up their designs, or bring in a copy of your invitations or a photo and have it scanned onto the cake. The cakes are reasonably priced and come in different sizes. I normally get their regular sheet cake and never hear any complaints. It tastes so good! I've had cakes with too much icing which make the cake too sweet. Oteri's does it right. ;) They also sell cookies, cupcakes and pies all specially decorated for different occasions. They sell piñatas and bday candles too.

I have bought several cakes from Oteris, and I always have a plesant experience. Great customer service, unique and delicous tasting cakes, and convenient hours.

I actually heard of Oteri's via Facebook because of a debate over the best bakery in Philly between Oteri's and another well known bakery. A friend of mine needed a cake for a one year old's birthday and this place was recommended. The cake was sooooooo good. They did a character cake (I forgot the cartoon...one of the newer ones) on a sheet cake and then had the baby's name on huge baby blocks. It was the most adorable cake ever. It was also complimented a lot. The sheet cake was vanilla while the blocks were pound cake. It was so good.

Great Bakery. They do fondant cakes. I took a picture to them of a fondant cake from the Cake Boss and they did the cake (alot Cheaper) and tasted great. I was amazed of the cakes people were picking up. It was very busy. I saw a Pepsi Bottle, Juicy Coutoure bag and some x-rated cakes. I also had a connoli when I was there it was the best one I ever had.

The cake was beautiful!!! I was so pleased, and all the guests at my wedding raved about how good it was... I highly recommend them, my cake look just like the picture i showed them. Irene was very nice and although the bakery itself was very crowded with customers, the service was fast. We are planning to renew our vows in 10 years, and I will definitely be getting my cake from Oteri's again!

I have been buying Oteri's rum cakes for about 50 years. Years ago I shopped at their Broad st store after that closed I have been going to the 5th street store. Always satisfied. Yes they do make the best rum cakes. I have been happy with all the variety of cakes from there. The connolis are great too.
