It's an OK medical business - but if you can find better-go for it
by TheDee1
Okay, here's the deal. I've been a patient for almost 15 years!!!
Yes, there is a problem speaking to a human being in an
expeditious manner - but you WILL get through - and, as long as
your not asked to hold again, your on a roll. When u finally get through,
you are helped in a nice manner.
Now, you come into the office. The front desk staff are nice - nothing to brag about, but
okay. No, hello maa'm - Good afternoon - something like that when u come in the door.
and, YOU have to figure out that u must sign the sheet. Noone will tell u. sorry...but, good
stuff is coming.
Now you wait, they call your name in less than 5 minutes for the checkin - (you give them your money
- co-payment and stuff.
Now, they call you in for weight check in - temperture check etc. The MA's there have ALWAYS been very nice for some reason. They do very well hiring those staff members.
After your visit with the medical assistant, you sit and they call your name quickly to be taken into an exam room. Now, you can catch up on a book or something, because you are going to wait for at least 20 minutes. But it's still all good....
In comes your doctor. I suggest that you write down everything you want to discuss with your doctor. Because if not, you will be bum=rushed out!!!
Now, this may not seem like a good review, but ALL the doctors in Philadlephia run their business this way. If you know of a doctor who takes their time to actually LISTEN to you, please let me know!!
Thanks
competent care; nice staff

My spouse and I both have both gone to Mt. Airy Family Practice for years and we highly recommend it. The doctors have always been competent and friendly. When my great aunt got ill and came to live with us a few years ago, she got her local medical care from Dr. Lewis. She said she wanted to take him home with her when she left!
I am not sure what to make of the comments about racism. Many of my neighbors use this practice and I have only heard positive comments, from both blacks and whites. The couple next door(two women) have started going there and told me they are thinking of switching their kids there because they feel so welcome. I am glad we have this practice in our neighborhood.
- Pros: competent medical care, nice staff
- Cons: they are not vets, too
Great care and awsome doctors

I have had a great experience at Mt Airy Family Practice. I have been a patient for over 10 years and am proud to have them in our neighborhood. The staffs customer service has been poor in the past, but I think they have a good crew now. They are busy at the front desk, but always nice. I like that they are on the cutting edge with their electronic records and having appointments available the day I call. I prefer seeing Dr. Good in person rather than over the phone. Before moving here from the midwest I had a doctor that managed a problem for over 6 months by phone. It turned out I had a cancer that probably would have been detected if he had examined me. I feel my husband and children get great care there as well. I am pleased with their web based system to request referrals. I have had no problems with referrals to my oncologist or for x rays since they started the web referral system. I am happy to report I have been cancer free for over 5 years and feel this is in large part due to the excellent , compassionate care I have received at Mt Airy Family Practice!!!
- Pros: Ease with getting appointments, web based referral requests
- Cons: Dr Good is often running late, but she is worth waiting for
