Editorial Review for Past and Present – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
Vintage finds and costume-store goodies stock this funky Mount Airy shop. Among upscale vintage finds are loads of defunct local labels: a mink-trimmed Paramount of Philadelphia coat, a silk floral pantsuit by the Strawbridge Shop. Many items bear original tags. There's not much the store doesn't have. Mummers' costumes and crinolines, tuxedoes and theater leftovers, colonial garb and magician's capes, and of course, Elvis.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasEach October, the shop restocks fluorescent hair spray, glitter sunglasses, Don King "the Promoter" wigs, face paint and animal masks.

This store is amazing -- you never know what you will find -- from beautiful, hand-made vintage linens to authentic 1920's flapper dresses to leather skirts and jackets to 1950's sweaters and coats to antique jewelry! Most items are one-of-a-kind. There are a few reproductions. The costumes are numerous and stupendous! If you need a drop-dead outfit for a party or a winning costume for a play or party or beautiful linens to decorate your home, this is the place to go!
Pros: beautiful vintage items
Cons: unusual hours -- call before visiting!
