great sandwiches.
What a cute old-timey bar/restaurant. Years ago I was having a drink , packed like sardines, and the door flew open--the crowd parted and a 4 piece Scottish band--bagpipes and all-- came marching in, playing their music. Everyone went nuts! It was such fun. And the famous Schmitter sandwich and Thanksgiving sandwich are soooo gooood!! Cozy atmosphere, great food and beers--love it!

You'll find cold beer and a warm welcome--not to mention a very strange sandwich--at this unpretentious neighborhood pub..
In Short
Don't bother looking for a sign; there isn't one. You either know where McNally's is--wedged between an optician and Hill Tavern--or you don't. Not knowing would be a shame, though, since this Chestnut Hill bar is as English as any Philly pub gets. It's not just the ancient-looking wooden beams or the pewter beer tankards hanging on the wall. What makes this place pub-like is the mix of locals--moms with babies, families eating together, octogenarian Hillers and married men.
