Take-Out Rip-Off. I recommend only eating in at this place, and at lunch time if you want a good value. The staff will still ignore you and the food will still be mediocre, but at least you won't have dropped $20.

I've ordered from and eaten at this place many times, but I've finally concluded: DON'T ORDER DELIVERY. When I called to order I was put on hold (and hung up on, with no apology when I called back) - I had to ask my total, and all she confirmed was my phone number and address. Delivery did not come for an hour, until after I called to ask where my food was (again, no apology, just "It be there soon"). Delivery guy was nice, and I tipped him $4 on $19 out of principle, even though he wouldn't leave me the receipt! Said his manager needed them back. What for? The customer gets a receipt. I save my receipts to keep track of spending - what's the big deal? Then I found my dumplings didn't have the usual tasty soy sauce/vinegar dip, but a gross, thick brown sauce.

For the first time ever, I called and asked for the manager (phone answerer insisted he was). I told him receipts were for customers ("No, customer must ask!" "No... YOU should ask ME!") and that I had gotten the wrong sauce. ("You want me to send out another one?" Right. That would take another hour.) He also insisted that they told me delivery would be 30-45 minutes (they hadn't, but it took an hour anyway) and offered no apologies. What a *bleep*- I don't know how this place has lasted so long in uppity Chestnut Hill.

Best Chinese Outside of CenterCity. The food at King's Garden is always excellent. The black bean sauce is fragrant and tasty. Everything is fresh. Style of restaurant is very traditional (looks like a classic Chinese restaurant from the 50s-90s). If the decor was hip this would be THE PLACE. Literally, it is the staid look of the place that holds it back. Food is served quickly, always sizzling and sumptuous. I love this restaurant. I can guarantee that you will too.

Good, fresh, full of flavor. Some of the best chinese food in the city. I've eaten in and ordered out from King's garden at least a dozen times and it never fails to please! The food is fresh and much tastier than most regular chinese food restaurants.
