This is an updated posting. I have been back since they have been revamping their exterior, interior, and menu. I love the exterior and interior changes to the hotel/restaurant.

The burgers are still our favorite burgers on the hill and the bartender is still awesome. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that they switched up their delicious crab cake sandwich. It used to be an unbreaded lump crab cake on a brioche roll with cajun mayo, and it was the best crab cake sandwich EVER. But they switched it up and now it is a breaded fried crab cake on a plain roll. Not what I would re-order. The breading takes away from the delicate sweetness of the crab and the plain roll adds nothing to the sandwich. Go back to the old recipe please!!!!

Favorite Restaurant in Chestnut Hill. I am very surprised by all of the negative reviews here, but I should start by saying that I have only been to the Chestnut Grille in 2011, not in past years. They seem to have changed management and are renovating the hotel and restaurant.

I go here all the time. This is my husband and I's favorite restaurant. This is where we take our friends from out of town. The food is consistently delicious and affordable. They have the best burgers in Chestnut Hill. The staff is pleasant, and they have a great bar with a vareity of on-tap beers. It might not be the fanciest or most gourmet restaurant, but if you want low key, delicious, comfortable food at a reasonable price, go here!

Awful service, disorganized hostess, mediocre fare. My husband and I had been to the Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Cafe multiple times, as it was conveniently located in our old neighborhood, and each time, the service and the food have been decreasing steadily. It's not bad food, but it's also not that great, and the same area (Chestnut Hill) has much tastier restaurants. Our breaking point came after our last visit this past Friday night when all we wanted was a couple of burgers after a long work week. The hostess told us that the wait was 20 minutes, but after an hour and change, we were still not seated. We wouldn't have had a problem if she had simply told us right off the bat that the wait was over an hour; we would have simply gone elsewhere. However, that was not the case. She kept getting confused between indoor and outdoor seating area customers; seated several customers ahead of us who were below us on the list and then, after telling us we were finally to be seated, ended up saying that "It'll be another twenty minutes", at which point we got up, went next door to Solaris and were seated in 10 minutes, and had our food in about fifteen more minutes. I don't think that we'll venture to the Chestnut Grill ever again.

Wonderful Customer Service & Food. Just came from CGSC. I travel around tasting different types of foods writing about the two most important things service and product; I have found thus far that Chestnut Grill by far has been superb in both areas. Not only is the food extremely delicious and fresh, but the customer service is absolutely the best!!!!! Today I had the Roasted pear salad w/Salmon, delicious!!! Please go you will be pleased. Thanks CGSC.

Great place to grab a bite to eat. The last two times that I have gone to chestnut hill grill have been excellent. It is my first choice for outdoor dining when I head to chestnut hill. I would definitely recommend it!

A bar, burgers and big umbrellas--an American Chestnut Hill restaurant for the family.. In Short
Chestnut does a decent job at creating an eclectic menu. Fried risotto cubes are a nice touch to the portobello mushroom salad; a bit of cajun blackening spice livens strips of grilled catfish. Basic, meaty crabcakes could lose the "pepper" sauce, which resembles grandma's creamed corn. But the salmon club always prevails. And regardless of how intercontinental the menu gets, its top sellers will always be the big salads and excellent sirloin burgers.

An overpriced disappointment. LUNCH on Feb. 13, 2007: At 12:30pm, the restaurant was nearly empty; atmosphere was nice.

I ordered a cheeseburger, medium. The roll was an inedible, very stale, kaiser roll. My "medium" burger was charred on the outside, and cooked to shoe leather inside--no pink whatsoever. The cheese was nearly non-existent. The burger was served with a side "fresh fruit salad" that was indeed fresh pineapple chunks, with nothing else except frozen cantalope. No refill was offered on my coffee after lunch; in fact, we never saw our waitress again after she brought the check. My meal cost $15 (including tip). Very, very disappointing. I will not return.

Great restaurant in a great area. This is a perfect place to dine either before or after taking in the charm of Chestnut Hill. The menu has a great selection of salads, sandwiches, and entrees, all of which are very good. The atmosphere is great and the service is friendly.
