Szechuan East is Philly's worst Chinese restaurant. I really wanted to like Szechuan East, but I am afraid that I have to agree with the many bad reviews posted at major websites. The food is mediocre tasting at best but more often than not is just plain terrible. The prices are sky high and the portions are very small. The interior is dark and dreary. Get double the food for half of the price at several other local Asian joints. I was expecting a Chinese Chef Gordon but got a notch below a Chinese McDonald's.
Best Chinese in the Area.
Delicious Chinese food.
Best choices to me are the Beef Cho Cho (Teriyaki beef on a stick, best I have had anywhere) Orange Chicken and the General Tso's.
I have been to a number of chinese restaurants in the Philly burbs and this is the best.
Nasty rude waiter. Few other diners present when we were there. Waiter threw his hands up in the air and stormed off when we requested appetizer order be eaten before order for dinner was given. Wanted wine - he wouldn't take the order. Wanted dish on menu without all the vegetables - he said NO.
Great Neighborhood Restaurant. The food & service are always excellent. The service is fast and attentive. This restaurant can compete with any in China town. Not much on atmosphere but in NE Phila that is expected. Free Parking
