A terrible experience, my hair is ruined for years!. The stylist butchered my hair. I am very very upset, I had very long thick hair before my visit and the stylist hacked it off without any sense of a style. Now it is so choppy and nasty that I put it back and can't bear to look at it. Horrible!!! I asked for light layering and bangs, what I got was 5 years of growing my hair down the drain, in some places in the back it is 12 inches shorter, and the longest layer is cut on an angle with little pieces that stick out and got missed by the scissors. A child could have cut it better, I am so sad. I forget the stylist's name but she was a middle aged woman with short dark hair. I will NEVER go back, and would not recommend this salon. Don't let them ruin your hair too!

Truly, a great salon.. I have been a client of Nova Hair Salon for nearly 10 years. Although I relocated to Chicago 5 years ago, I still travel the 800 miles back to Nova to get my hair permed. Why? Because, they listen. Instead of giving me a hair style that I can not maintain, they work with me to create a style that fits my life. That alone would keep me coming back, but, as a bonus, the Salon's atmosphere is welcoming and upbeat. I can not recall a visit where I did not hear the clients and staff joking with each other. Truly, a great salon.

Great Haircut- Terrific Prices- Feels Like Home. I went to Nova after being disappointed with another salon in Center City Philadelphia. I called on a Saturday morning and was booked in with Erin. Upon entering the salon, I instantly felt at ease---which is not very common in the upscale salon scene. After only waiting for a few minutes, I met with Erin who discussed my cut and let me know what she would need to do in order to acheive the style I wanted. Erin is a true pro and not only cut my hair- but styled it for me so carefully----and I am so happy with the results.

I am highly impressed with Nova.....and will be going back.

Respose from Nova Hair Salon to Unfair Review. As one of the owners of Nova Hair Salon, I would like to respond to the person who suggests that we are rude. First, I want to specify that this person was a job applicant at Nova, not a client. As a courtesy to prospective employees, we allow all job applicants to fill out applications. If there is no job available at the time they come in, we make that clear to them. When this person came in to apply, she was informed that we would file her application for future reference, but there was no job available. She still insisted on calling 2 days later to find out about the job that wasn't there.

Perhaps there was a misunderstanding on her part. Clearly there was a language barrier between us. I just want to make it clear that we are never rude to job applicants. In fact, we go out of our way to be courteous, by allowing evey applicant to fill out an application. We do not, however, have the time to be hounded by applicants once we have told them there is no job available.

I would also like to state that this particular applicant has used the City Search rating system unfailry . by not specifying that she was not a client in our salon. Her review should be eliminated from our list, simply because it has nothing to do with the quality of our work, nor with our relationship with our clients. We pride ourselves on maintaining the most friendly and welcoming atmosphere in our salon, and this job applicant has insulted us by insinuating that we treat our clients rudely.

great blow-out!. I happen to come across Nova hair salon on friday when I was in a bind and needed my hair done for the evening's events.Nova salon is located on the of corner juniper and sansom street which was such a great location. As soon as I walked in I was greeted kindly and taken right away. I needed a clarifying treatment as well as a good blowout. One of the stylist there had made my hair unbelievably bouncy and shiny. I will be returning to her for my scheduled cut in a few weeks. Not only did I find a new hairstylist, I found a future salon with the greatest attitude towards their clients.

They recommended products that I wasn't aware of as well as made me feel comfortable and apprectiated.

rude behavior. The owner was extremely rude behavior. She was look down on people and also decided people before she learn more about them. In stead of making me feel at home and comfortable she make me feel as though I was bothering her. She hadn't listened to a word I said. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL. BECAUSE You have a lots of choice salon in center city that better than her salon.......

Friendly, low key, professional service. I've been going to Nova for forever. Through perms, color, cuts, and several different lengths of hair. They are terrific. Very caring for their customers. Low key, easy to talk to. Good, high-quality hair care. Highly recommended.

Best Salon in Town. I discovered Nova Hair Salon one day while in Center City. That was five years ago. Now, I absolutely could not imagine ever going to another salon. Not only is everybody highly talented, they are warm and down to earth. There is one major factor that separates this salon from so many others - everybody cares! They actually take the time to listen to what you want and give you what you asked for. I leave each time feeling really great about hair. PS - I have never seen so much detail put into giving a perm. Each curl comes out PERFECT!

Great service, friendly, comfortable environment, best haircuts and color in the city. Nova Hair Salon is the best kept secret in the city. They provide the best service, and great haircuts and color with the most comfort. No pressure, they only want you to be happy with your hair and nails. They have been around longer than most of the other salons in the city and all the really important Philadelphians have been clients for years! I think they should be rated as the number 1 hair salon in Philadelphia!
