Editorial Review for Happily Ever After – by Lauren McCutcheon
In Short
Remember the "Lonely Doll?" What about Betsy McCall? They're here, and neither looks a day over 7. This toy shop sells all sorts of childhood nostalgia, including "That Girl," the Bionic Woman, Urkell, Barbie dressed as Morticia Addams and Laverne and Shirley. Though many toys are old-fashioned, they're all brand-spanking new: R. John Wright "Beatrix Potter" characters, tiny tin wind-up toys and Radio Flyer wagons.

I was searching for baby gifts today and didn't want to do the usual Gap outfit, bottles off the registry boring thing. I wandered into Happily Ever After and found a lot of really great things. They had beautiful wood letter blocks that looked almost antique (and the bright red, blue and green ones if that's what you want); books for dad's survival; blankets; little golden books and a whole bunch of other things including a very big selection of dolls. I ended up with these great wall cards that are 8x10 - add some ribbon to spell out the child's name and wrap up the rest. Fabulous :) The two men who were working were very helpful and I will definitely go there the next time I need a gift for a child (or childlike friend). Oh and they also had these fabulous pop-up books, really, they were beautiful.
Pros: Friendly staff, great selection, take credit cards!!
Cons: None
