poor service from waitress.
The food are excellent, But the waitress and waiter on the second floor have very poor attitude. I have been there many times because I like the managers and the food. But some times when there are no table available on 1st floor, I have to sit on 2nd floor, where there are no supervisor or manager watching the servants.
Whenever you give less than 15% tips at checkout. The waitress and waiter would start giving you an attitude. They would chi-chat to one another, frowning at you, talking about you from behind. They would not even say thank you for my generous tips I gave them. Yet tips that you gave goes to the waitress/ waiter, but they should be glad that they are getting some tips and at least say thank you no matter what.
On Chinese New Year, I went there for dinner, sat on 2nd floor again , being served by the same waitress. She again gave me an attitude, very poor behavior... came to me and asked me if I am ready. I only sat there for no more than 10 minutes looking at the menu and waiting for my other guests to show up. She was just pushing me to hurry up by approaching me twice. She again started gossiping with the other waiter about me.
I am a customer and give them tips or should I say more tips if they would stop their poor attitude and serve me better and with a smile. Yes I will go there again, but Never again on second floor. They do not deserve to get any tips on second floor.
Best to come back to Philly to eat Chinese food. We came over the bridge (we live in Jersey) for dinner on Thanksgiving day since I caught a rare break from cooking. We walked up & down Chinatown looking for a nice place when I asked a nice Chinese lady where her family goes to eat. She told me here, & she said they travel from Reading Pa to do it, that was enough for me, & we went in. The street level was full so we were ushered upstairs to our table & we were the only ones there for only 1/2 hour before the 2nd floor was also filled, mostly Asian families. We are more then pleased with the service, the food & the prices a huge menu & choices, & there was plenty to eat, & went away w/ our leftovers to take home. I would recommend this place to anyone that asks. The best place on the corner of 10th & Race will be our new home for our Chinese food. Thanks Jade Harbor !
one of the better chinese restaurants in downtown Philly. This is an easy place to order takeout and the prices are in line with most other chinese places in the area. Food comes out hot and well done, with quantities on the small side, but not too small. If you are by yourself, you can try a couple of dishes, but you're better off with a larger group so you can sample more. The staff is efficient for take out.
seafood wonder...and then some. my friends came to visit me in Philadelphia, and they wanted chinese food. I was planning another place, but i never been to jade harbor. Wow! That's all i have to say. Was that a treat. We order mostly seafood like sautee lobsters, clams with blackbeans, steam shrimps, walnut shrimp (which i heard was good here), and a fish dish that my friend ordered (it was in a clay bowl). The food was great and the service was terrific (they helped with the selections). Downfall, they don't make great drinks...but they still serve beer =)
so goood!. If u want Chinese Food late at night, this is the place to go to. When u go to Chinatown and order the Seafood Soup, S/S Pork, Lemon Crispy Chicken, Claypot Fish, Walnut Shrimp, etc, and the food comes out good, then u know where to go to. Awesome. Trust me. I'm Chinese :D
at the corner. This place serves fantastic chinese food. On top of that, it's clean and service is great. I had the 7 course meal: seafood soup w/ fish mahal(sp.), jellyfish, walnut shrimp, sautee lobster, steam fish (big), salt n pepper calamari, sizzling steak, and some bean dessert in the end. These new owners and chef have been there for 5 years. EXCELLENT FOOD. I will be coming weekly. The prices are reasonable too!
the lil secret. The is little restaurant on the coner of race and 10th is one of the well kept secret. While everyone is going to the famous Tai Lake, my dad took me here. Not only was the food taste consistant everytime i went there, they give the most bang for my buck. It was well money spent. The Walnut Shrimp is a must.
