The salt and pepper squid is by far the most delectable take out in the game.
Superb customer service!. They have very nice staff, very responsive, highly recommend!
Awful Experience. I have never written a review before , but the food and service were sooo disappointing I felt compelled to join Citysearch and write this review. The food was exceedingly bland and flavorless. I had the beef sate with chinese broccholi which was advertised as spicy. Not only wasn't it spicy but the sauce had no flavor at all let alone spice or sate. The spring roll was doughy with limp(not crisp) veggies and bland. The duck abalone soup was the only part of the meal that had some slight flavor. My companions had the duck with vegetables over rice which looked very dry, and the vegetables had a burned oily flavor. Another had the pork over rice which was salty but otherwise underseasoned as well. We waited about 15-20 minutes before our order was taken, and the wait for the check was long as well. The appetizers and entrees all arrived at the same time. I've had better Chinese food from food carts. My least satisfying meal in Chinatown, and I eat out alot all over the country.
Wort Chinese Restaurant ever in town. I've never written a review before but this restaurant made me write my first review. I had gut feeling as soon as I got into the restaurant that this would be bad. My boyfriend and I were seated in a while even if there were seats available. Service was very slow compared to the one in other restaurants in China town. Speaking of food....nothing to say about. My boyfriend ordered duck with vegetables which was covered with random sauce and had no flavor. Vegetables were like just out of a freezer, no taste, no flavor, no texture. Duck was very smelly and too chewy. I had the infamous hot pot of abalone and chicken. No flavor again.....abalone was not real one. It was fake abalone. So bad. And we got to pay over $25 for the two BAD dishes. Don't waste your money and time.
got treated like trash. Hadn't been back to Lee How Fook in a while and I wanted to introduce my partner to the place. I have fond memories of it from several years ago. The food was not bad and the had fixed it up inside. The problem was we got treated like trash. For the life of us we could not figure out why (although of course there's practically never a justification). We came in and got seated. Two other tables got seated at the same time. Each of the two other tables immediately got water and tea. We sat there and sat there. Someone came to take our order. They left. We had to flag them back down to ask for water and tea. When it came back, I asked for a Sprite. A can was then dumped on the table. We sat for another few minutes before we could again flag our server to ask for a glass with ice and a straw. And it's not like he was the only server. There were three servers in a place that is not much bigger than your living room. Our food was served. No rice. Everything time we asked for something that should have been given to us, the server's manner was extremely brusque. No apologies, even though we continued to be extremely polite. It seemed like the only people who got treated well were the ones who brought alcohol into the place, which makes no sense b/c it's BYOB so they're not even buying it from the restuarant!! I have absolutely no interest in going back to a place like that if they don't want my business for some unknown reason. Shaio Lan Kung is much better anyway.
Overrated and dirty.
I am completely mystified by all the great reviews of this restaurant. I took a small group there for what I thought would be a great authentic chinese meal.
I had my doubts as soon as we walked in the door. It looked dirty and no one was in there. The food was nothing special and when I went into the bathroom to wash my hands a r oach, yes a r oach, fell on my head!
Never ever ever again!!!
Overrated. Disappointed, had the duck over rice. Very mediocre. Rather greasy. Bland. Flavor lacked complexity. Questionable authenticity. Will try again to be fair, perhaps Singapore noodles and dumplings are a better choice
Best Chinese Food on the East Coast. Every dish is wonderful. Eating there is like visiting with family friends. They have the best won ton soup I have tasted. Prices are reasonable; the service is very good. If you have not been to Lee How Fook, you have missed one of the great experiences of Philadelphia. I have been disappointed by all but the most expensive Chinese restaurants in New York City. Save your money, go to Philly and LHF instead. After lunch, go see the city of brotherly love on a full stomach. Go Phillies - 2008 World Series Champs!"
Fresh and a Good Value but Improvements Needed. Attentive service, friendly atmosphere and fresh ingredients provide a good starting point. BYOB is a drawing card as are the moderate prices. A few changes would be needed to get me to return. The quartz spotlighting is a bit harsh. The entrees while attentively prepared are on the ordinary (American style Chinese) side spice wise and presentation was average. And who can eat with plastic chopsticks from the small 6 inch plate? The biggest disappointment was the "beef steak in Chinese Style" where the beef was so fatty that most of it was not really edible. On the plus side, the "Seafood and bean curd hotpot" served up generous portions of seafood all obviously fresh and well prepared.
Average Chinese food. I went to Lee How Fook with high expectations (based on the reviews) but left very disappointed. I've been to hundreds of Chinese restaurants throughout the country, including those in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. I went on a weekday evening. Service was pleasant and the decor was average. I asked the server for recommendations, and she suggested the hot & sour soup and chicken & asparagus hotpot chef's special. The soup feeds 2-4 (no single servings). When it arrived, I was initially very excited. However, it turned out to be neither hot (spicy) nor sour. I hoped the entree would lift my spirits, but alas, like the soup, it disappointed. The aroma was delicious, but tasted like a very hot chicken & asparagus in (bland) garlic sauce. I paid my tab and declined to take the leftovers home. A decidedly average meal.
Authentic & inexpensive Chinese Food. Very authentic food....the Wonton soup was awesome and so are the hot pots....service is a bit lacking since there only seemed to be one server there....but we sat next to a couple who have been eating here for the last 37 years...I can see why. I wish I lived in Philadelphia! :-)
