Classic Chinese fare, fresh from the market (or aquarium).. In Short
The later the hour, the more crowded this Chinese restaurant becomes and the more brightly lit the no-frills space seems. Fish tanks filled out front, a bare-bones bar and soundless karaoke videos on an elevated TV provide decor essentials. House specials, including live seafood dishes, are listed in a separate, smaller menu. Peking duck arrives crispy and tender, with tangy hoisin sauce on the side, and peppery beef hot pot does not disappoint.

Looking for great seafood, this is it!!!!!!!!. I am a food lover and being Chinese myself, I've had Asian seafood in a number of Aisian countries. If I were to recommend one place in Philadelphia for Asian seafood, Tai Lake is no doubt the place! Seafood is always pricy, so if you are looking for a cheap bite, not here :) But for your money, Tai Lake offers the best quality seafood, and it is well worth the price. It is definitely cheaper than going to other seafood places in and around the city. Services are always fast, but the waiting staff can sometimes be a bit quick and brief. It is not a 5-star restaurant, so don't look for that kind of service here. For the great food at this place, I certainly don't mind the slight downside. Be brave and try new dishes at this place, you are in for a treat!

seafood...and then some. This place can get pretty crowded on the weekends. They serve one of the better food in Chinatown, Philly. However, it can be inconsistant some nights. Might be due to the fact of chef changes. Overall, the sweet pork, walnut shrimp, lobster in bb were fine. Price was a bit high-$120 for a 6-7 course meal for this type of restaurant. But, i will be back.
