We went because we heard the pancakes were the best, sorry not even close, average at best. Lebus, Manyunk and Morning glory are the best in Philly. Service good, place interesting, worth the visit.

We went to the because we heard the Pancakes were the best,. They are average at best. The service was good and the reading terminal is a fun place, lots of interesting things.

I would recommend the place highly, but not the pancakes if you are looking for the best. In fairness, we only tried the pancakes, the french toast looked good, but we didn't try. The best pancakes in Philly are found at LeBus in Manyunk or Morning glory at 10th & Fitzwater.

Mouthwatering Apple Dumplings

by jaf071984

This is one of my favorite places in Reading Terminal Market. The hot apple dumplings are to die for! They are the most mouthwatering succulent desserts I have ever tasted. Ask to have your's served piping hot with whipped cream. I promise you will not be dissapointed.

Open from Wed through Sat although they close early on Wednesday's.

Large lunch menu with gigantic sandwiches and down home Amish cooking.

Great place to bring a tourist friend for lunch or breakfast.

Don't be discouraged by the usually long lines. Service is very fast and if the seats are not available at the counter, head to the back of the market where you will usually find a table.

  • Pros: Hot Dutch Apple Dumplings with whipped cream. To Die For!
  • Cons: Nothing. Absolutely everything is good!

Start your day the Amish way!

by bluehensfan

The best breakfast in Philly featuring big, fluffy pancakes sometimes approaching manhole cover size! Order them light (they can be dark at times) and dry (unless you like lots of butter) with or without blueberries. Great bacon, homemade home fries, cinnamon raisin bread, omelettes, and scrapple. A great authentic Amish experience that natives and toursists line up for. We eat there weekly...it's that good! The counter seating 30 people gets busy during peak times (especially if a convention is in town) but the line moves quickly and there is a fast take-out available on the side if you're in a hurry. But sit at the counter, it's worth the wait. The restaurant is only open from Wednesday through Saturday. They also serve good lunches too including dumplings and homemade french fries. If you see a line to eat here...there's a good reason why!
