Longtime Wasabi House Fan. Wonderful little spot. Best sushi the price. I've been a customer for over 5 years and have always had a good experience dining there. The owner & staff are friendly & attentive. The food is always fresh and amazing. From time to time the owner makes free samples for us to try out. I really can't speak enough good about Wasabi House.

sushi shack. like someone said, it's a nice sushi shack. I normally get the spicy tuna, shrimp tempura roll and salmon when i go to a new place. If the spicy tuna and wasabi isn't that spicy, it's ussually catered to the American taste bud. I use the salmon to determine how fresh it is.

I wouldn't use udon as an example. I never been to a place that hand made the udon nooldes at a sushi place. Maybe an fancy upscale sushi place but I never been to one. I didn't know you can get fresh vegetable in instant udon 0-o. ONE time the shrimp tempura roll didn't taste fresh...

This place is a nice small sushi dive. You get good food with reasonable prices. This place has ginger tea, which is normally serve at Korean places. I love their hot ginger tea. Out of all the sushi place I've been to, this is the only place I know that serve hot ginger tea. I recently found a new sushi place, more fancier, higher price, that include cold ginger tea with pine nut, they called it some asian cinnamon tea, although it contain both ginger and cinnamon.

They created wasabi house II on South Street. It's more fancier and more like a restuarant. I'm use to the original wasabhi house, I notice there was some changes to wasabi house after wasabi house II open up. All I know, they took out a menu item that I like to order... i forgot what.. it's like a sushi and california roll special. it was cheap and worth it.

Their wasabi are strong. it's probably not the strongest I've tasted but it sure wasn't weak.

I thought this place was closed down. I'll post up an update after I go there tonight. i'm glad they moved and didn't close down because wasabi house II, even though the food are good, it doesn't have the same vibe as wasabi house.

UPDATED: I dropped it down a star. The place has change. I would still go back because I like their spicy tuna. It's a nice stop on my way to the apartment. Pick up a roll or two and then head home.

Instant Tempura Udon. The first things I try when I go to a new japanese restaurant is to try the Tempura Udon and sushi, so that I can compare the same stuff. The udon is the worst I've ever had in my life. The first reaction I got from the first bite was that it reminded me of Instant Noodles. To make it worse, I discovered a strand of hair in my udon ( not mine ). The sushi was average at best.

moved and improved. it looks like they've moved locations, just a block down Pine St. where the old taco place used to be. as far as i can tell, it looks like the owner himself is actually back and running the restaurant himself, and the food has gotten a lot better. the decor is also a huge improvement over the past location.

it's not a high-end place (never has been) but the food is good, priced reasonably, and when i crave a non-greasy meal, i know where to go.

Cheap and fast. I just moved into the neighborhood and thought I'd give Wasabi House a try. My first experience was good, so I decided to go back for more. Since their portions are small (typically 8 pieces), I ordered an avocado salad too. What a disappointment that was! The lettuce was iceberg and looked like it came from a cheap mix bought at the supermarket. Definitely not what I'm used to, after eating at Mizu for about 2 years. Overall, Wasabi has decent sushi for the price, but there are definitely better sushi establishments in the city.

Sunny sushi. I usually get Sushi at Wasabi House. Their sushi is always excellent, their service is prompt and kind, and there are lots of windows. I have their tea from time-to-time, which is also yummy, and their prices are very good. They take care with their presentation of the food and the restaurant. Thumbs up.

Great service, great sushi!. This is a friendly and casual place with a large menu and affordable prices. Everyone I've taken here has really liked the sushi, particularly the spicy salmon rolls. And the homemade ginger tea is fabulous!! So is the homemade green tea ice cream. I love the unpretentiousness of the decor and staff; it is a welcoming environment and they are more customer service-oriented than most restaurants in Philly, including other sushi joints. Check it out! It is my favorite lunch spot in town.

Fresh sushi. This is a really nice, fast place to get sushi. I only eat certain rolls, like the California roll, therefore I am not the best judge. However, the food is very fresh and while the rolls are small, they taste a lot better than some of the sushi I have had at much more expensive places. The people there are also very friendly and welcoming, which is always a plus.

Don't bother.. My quest to conquer Philadelphia's sushi spots led me to this place. Upon entering, I began to wonder if I had made a good sushi decision. The decor can only be described as weird. The sushi was mediocre, with only one vegetarian maki option on the menu which was disappointing in itself. This vegetable roll (carrot, cucumber, avocado) was decent but small. My friend was dissatisfied with her dragon roll. The wait staff was friendly, which was pretty much this place's only redeeming factor. Do yourself a favor and get your sushi fix somewhere else.
