Unequal service. I had dinner with my wife. The restaurant was not busy at all. One large party of 8 people and two other tables of couples. My wife and I simply came in to eat the Pho. When I ordered two bowls of the soup the server asked what appetizers I wanted, asking it in a manner and tone as if expecting that we order appetizers. I said just the two bowls. During the entire time we were there he never returned to see how our meal was; however, my wife and I noticed that he went around asking the other two tables and the larger party. I could understand if they were busy but there were only a total of four tables and he wasn't the only server working the floor. This was our first time eating at Vietnam Palace. We usually eat at the restaurant across the street - they always checked up on our table when we would eat there. Vietnam Palace was a disappointment. The Pho serving was small and the service was not warm. When we were given our bill the server didn't say thank you nor did he look at us when we gave us our food or cleared our table. POOR, POOR SERVICE.

Average Food. The food is okay. Not the best Vietname food I've had. The service is good, but the restaurant is not very clean.

One half of Chinatown's Vietnamese double-threat.. In Short
Vietnam Palace's appearance is that of a run-of the mill fluorescent-lit restaurant. But the staff is highly accommodating and, once you're settled, the average setting begins to fade from your thinking. Meat lovers should consider sharing the "Bo 7 Mon," seven courses of beefy goodness. The vermicelli combo breaks out of the traditional bowl onto a platter of noodles and grilled meat and fish. Salt-baked squid is almost as light as tempura.

Great service!. Great food at a great price, friendly service, and I've never had to wait for a table. What more could a girl ask for? :)

Best. Restaurant. Ever.. I'm a college student, so this is in the upper end of my price range for a nice dinner, but I still come here as often as I can - and I am not the type to come back to a place repeatedly. The food is just mindblowing.

Real romantic - if you don't get some after taking a girl here, you're doing something wrong.

Dissapionted-Cross the street for the real deal!. Why bother with paying extra for 2nd rate food with sort-of-ok service?

bowl of pho. This place did some rennovation a year ago i think and it looks great! On top of that...the food didn't change either. They are always serving the best food w/ decent prices. It's not on the menu, but they make something called a 7 course beef that is delicious!

Simply the best. Vietnam Palace is not just the best Vietnamese restaurant in Philly, but perhaps my favorite place to eat in this city, period. From the fresh tofu rolls to the curried mussels, everything I've tried has been delicious, fresh-tasting, and an incredible value for the price.

Nothing beats the Vermicelli Combo (or it it the Vermicelli Deluxe? I always get those two confused). A huge platter of vermicelli noodles and salad topped with crunchy spring rolls, grilled stuffed grape leaves, charboiled shrimp, and pork meatballs. And only $10! Short ribs with broken rice is a wonderful choice for a ribs-lover like myself. Plenty of vegetarian choices and they are also very willing to alter dishes to add stir-fried tofu instead of meat.

Service is generally warm, friendly, and prompt, although when the place is jumping sometimes it can be a bit slow.

Be Quiet !. That's what I should be - quiet ! The food has always been better here than across the street but now the decor also surpasses their competition. The entire place has been refurbished and the atmosphere matches the cuisine. Same friendly staff, same fantastic dishes but a little longer wait for a table but well worth it. Some great things to try include: duck soup; beef sate; salt baked squid; fish in clay pot the list goes on and on.
