Marathon Grill at 1339 Chestnut is Yuck!!
by wanamakerbldgemploy
I work across the street from the Marathon Grill at 13th and Chestnut and over the years have gone there for lunch on two ocassions to eat in and about four for take out. I have to say this is some of the most terrible food I have eaten. The following has been my experience.
1) gritty salad
2) spolied salad dressing
3) incorrect order given to me
4) Salad that looks like it has been in the fridge for several days
I kept giving it a chance because it is so convenient to my office, but today with the dirty gritty wilted salad
they gave me , I will walk the extra distance to get some clean good food. The owner should be ashamed of him/herself for providing such medicocre food. It is not worth the lines and money. Yuck!
- Pros: Decor
- Cons: Food
Marathon Bar (Upstairs 10th & Walnut only)
by RetFireFEMTech
Being at a friend's going away get together, I got a taste of slow service from a tall, voluptuous but slow and inattentive barmaid. Out of grapefruit juice. Out of Guinness on tap. First time there but I believe in first impressions.
- Pros: Barmaid's looks (I'm a male chauvinist oink oink).
- Cons: Barmaid; Karoke night was Rap & too loud. Youth oriented.
Not all the Marathons are bad....
by Seashell1806
Living and working in Center City there are at least 4 Marathons located within walking distance. I will preface by stating that I LOVE the Marathon on the Square! The employees are friendly, professional and you never need to ask for a refill, seriously, some of the best food service employees. The food is great and the take out too. However, I cannot recommend the sister Marathons 13th and Chestnut nor 10th and Walnut. Terrible take out from ordering, to picking it up, to opening it up (look at your order before you leave the restaurant if your odering take out, chances are the order will be incorrect or the lack of food in the box.... truly a rip off!) The $11.18 nicoise salad with barely any tuna is the reason for my review. Note...I never ever, ever gave a review before this date on any restaurant. So if your visiting and must go to a Marathon Grill restaurant try Marathon on the Square at 19th and Spruce.
