In Short – During the weekend, it's mostly young urban types clad in disco shirts. The females are few, except for the occasional woman out on the town with a gay friend. For more gender, preference and age diversity, try a weekday night. If the clientele doesn't hold your attention, monitors throughout the bar play videos and campy vignettes from popular TV shows and movies. The upstairs bar also has several PCs with AOL access.
Totally gay.

Wear what you want.. some people dress up, some come in jeans and sneakers. I am over 21 and paid $2 to get in on a Wednesday night, which is 18+ night. If you're under 21, the cover is $5. Drinks are pricey.. $7 for a shot of vodka, $8 for a long island iced tea, but the drinks are very strong, honestly, so you wouldn't need many! The dance floor was crowded and sweaty. Everyone was looking to take someone home and hooking up on the dance floor.. I've never been to a club with such horny people! Men dance on poles half-naked.
The music is okay. Kelly Clarkson, Destiny's Child, Soulja Boy, and the like.
- Pros: Cheap cover.
- Cons: Expensive drinks, you'll probably have some stranger try to do you on the dance floor, music.
Everyone goes to Woody's...but there are other options

The place is an institution. But as often happens with institutions, Woody's is experiencing some growing pains. Things have gotten awkward since Woody sold the joint to the owners of Pure. If you haven't gone yet, be warned: Woody's is a very "stand-and-model" sort of event. People aren't there to *see* so much as to *be seen.* It's can get exhausting.
The bartenders are out-of-this-world friendly and most of the rest of the staff is as well. There are a couple over-zealous bouncers with serious chips on their shoulders and that's a shame because they're ruining the staff's image. For the most part though, the employees are very nice.
Woody's is many things to many people but it's certainly not the be-all, end-all of the Philly gay scene. There are lots of places to check out and spending an entire night at Woody's is not a good investment of one's time.
- Pros: Lots of different "types" make up the clientele, the staff is mostly great.
- Cons: A couple rude bouncers, the place can get waaaaaaaaaay too crowded, sometimes the AC system isn't sufficient.
