Great Malaysian restaurant. I search out Malaysian restaurants in every city I go to and this one is worth checking out.

The decor was attractive, the service was attentive and the food was above average.

I especially liked the satay but did not like how the kari ayam was full of bone fragments. I always like it on the bone but in this case they had chopped them into fine pieces. Nonetheless it tasted great and I will be back next time I'm in Philadelphia.

Best Malaysian in town. This chain Malaysian Restaurant is absolutely incredible. My personal favorites are the Roti Canai, The Mango Chicken, and the hot and Spicy jumbo Prawns. You cannot go wrong here!!

Whenever I come to town I always try to make it here.

great lunch spot. The lunch was great. Good spot for a working lunch. The staff is prompt and the portions are generous. The pad thai is spot on! New Fave! I heard the wait can get long at night but lunch was quick.

Our fave Chinatown restaurant!. In my opinion, the best Malaysian restaurant in Philly. Service is fast and attentive. Atmosphere is modern and chic. Try and get a seat in the back near the kitchen to watch the cooks prepare the food! For appetizers, start with the roti canai indian pancake, which comes with an awesome chicken/potato curry sauce. Entrees are cheap and delicious, especially the Chicken Curry Ayam, Mango Chicken and Singapore Rice Noodles. Try a Malaysian iced tea (that's MALAYSIAN, not thai as per the waitresses ;) ) on the side. Perfect if you're looking for a fast, cheap, delicious Chinatown eat.

Okay food with the worst service ever. I have to say ive been to all the restuarants in chinatown and this place has the worst service ever. They are dismissive and condescending and while i was in the middle of eating, they just handed me the bill without asking if i wanted desserts or anything. it made me feel like i had no money to pay for this meal. the food is okay, it wasnt bad but i had better.

Great food, can't beat the prices!. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown. The menu is pretty large and varied, so there is something for everyone. The portions are huge and around $7 or $8 for a dinner. I wish I could make it here more often! It's delicious and you won't be disappointed if you go. I recommend the chicken curry!

Good food but not worth the risk. I have been here several times and they do have good food but I have several concerns regarding their cleanliness. First off, their restroom is atrocious, so you can?t touch anything in there. What is the point of washing your hands? Secondly, your shoes stick to the entire floors of the restaurant, so clean your shoes before returning home. Thirdly, I have had several chicken dishes where I found several hard pieces of white unidentifiable meat that we not edible in which I had to discard them in my napkin. Lastly, there are flies buzzing in the restaurant, in the winter? I just think at a very basic level they would try to uphold their appearance. There are many other restaurants in Chinatown that are cheaper and cleaner. Also a friend of mine had a piece of glass in his food and they did not even take it off his bill.

Authentic Malaysian/Indian. I lived in Malaysia for a few months and this is as authentic as Malaysian food gets in this city. It always hits the spot when you want something different. Some items to try: Indian Pancake, Satay Chicken and Satay Beef, Mango Chicken, Jumbo Prawns in the house sauce, and the cold chicken--be prepared for food that is rich in flavor, sweet and salty and possibly spicy. They do not take credit cards only cash. It's quite loud but it gives the place a comforting, casual feel. I've never had a bad experience here and the service, food are always consistent.

Swanky Chinatown chain features Malaysian cuisine.. In Short
Penang's owners, who make their restaurants look hip and trendy, have given their Philadelphia outpost an industrial look, exposing the pipes overhead and plastering the walls with metal sculptures. Even the bar is made of corrugated metal. Seafood selections run from red snapper to pompano to "Cheng-lai" stingray. Fish typically comes deep-fried in a delicious Thai sauce. Mango chicken features tender slices of chicken breast served in a mango shell on top of a bed of rice noodles.

User review by lbien. I go here often, despite the fight for parking. The food is that good. The waiters/waitresses literally stand around waiting to accomodate you. The decor is also unique, especially when compared to the rest of Chinatown. I recommend the Indian pancake and the Hainese chicken rice.
