We keep going back for Great Food, Great Service, Great Valu. In my extended family we have two vegetarians, three people who don't eat pork or shell fish, many omnivores, but all are discerning food lovers... and we ALL love Kingdom of Vegetarians! We have been there many times in large groups (9-13 people), and have always been greeted warmly, have never felt rushed, and have always left full and satisfied. The dishes common to typical Chinese restaurants will pleasantly surprise you with their variety of vegetables (zucchini and asparagus in their lo mein!), and depth of flavor. Kingdom does not skimp. We have several favorite dishes: House Special Wonton Soup, General Tso's Chicken, Franks Delight, Eggplant with Black Bean Sauce (with giant chunks of tofu), Roast Pork Lo Mein, and Cumin Lamb. We just picked up a ton of food last night for my dad's birthday celebration, and once again, it was a hit. We have never had a bad experience. I recommend Kingdom highly.

Not Vegetarian. There was a bone in our food. We have been eating at the Kingdom of Vegetarians for years and we were always so impressed with the food. Last night we got the Mongolian Pork dish for two, and guess what - there was a real pork bone in it. It was horrible! I had a big mouthful mixed with brown rice, and I realized there was something big in my mouth. I pulled it out and OH MY GOD, there was an inch-long bone split in half with the marrow still in it. I think about all of the Vegan Rasta's, Hindus, Hare Krishnas, Muslims and general Vegans that we know who eat there. It is so sad! We loved this restaurant, but this is unacceptable! We called them a freaked out on them on the phone. The manager apologized and seemed a bit shocked! She wanted to send us a new dish – NO THANKS! She admitted that they buy the dish as a already made food item from Taiwan. How depressing. If this restaurant cannot find another distributor, they will have to close their doors. I don’t see any other option for them. Well, I hope you don’t eat there if you are a vegetarian, because the Kingdom of Vegetarian is apparently not one.

I find this comment *very* hard to believe. This restaurant is kosher certified by a respected Orthodox certification organization. The rabbis who certify it check their suppliers, their processes, everything. They are very careful about this sort of thing, particularly where pork is involved.

Dim sum!. The only thing i've ever ordered is the Dim Sum, and it is always great. This place is perfect if you just want to get together with a few friends, and eat delicious, inexpensive vegan Chinese food. The decor could use a makeover, but after you taste the food, you won't mind.

I wish we had this place in Charlotte NC. I was in Philadelphia for some work very recently, and before going I decided to find a great vegetarian place to try. After stumbling on this location online, I was very excited to give it a go. I actually didnt get to eat here til about 2 hrs before I left the city to return to Charlotte, NC but wish I had gotten here sooner. I would have gone everyday! The food was simply amazing. A small place that could be easily missed if you arent looking, but it delightfully surprises once you start ordering!

The menu is actually overwhelming as you want to try just about anything. They have a $12 Dim Sum where they keep bringing you select dishes (all you can eat) but unfortunately it requires 2 people minimum. I ordered the fried duck and ham fried rice and also an order of spring rolls. Everything here is vegetarian and mock meat, which was a dream come true. Even the rice is served w/o eggs!

The veggie rolls were a little on the greasy side, but the duck and rice were simply superb. Veggies in the rice included onions, zucchini, and slivered carrots while the duck was served with an amazing brown sauce that had black beans and garlic in it.

Why cant we get places like this in my city :(

Great food, great atmosphere. I used to live in Philly and went many times to Kingdom of Vegetarians. I thought the food was amazing. I am not a vegetarian but I could eat this food every day. The staff is very nice and remembers their regulars. They have great prices and a wide variety of delicious food to choose from. Always fun to go with a group and either get the dim sum or the buffet style meal. Those allow you to try a lot of different foods and at a great price. Be prepared to take home left-overs as you will get a ton of food.

This kingdom needs revolution. I was on a short trip and following the rave reviews brought there my fellow colleagues, a couple vegetarians. Apart from very traditional Chinese service- rough, brisk and fast ,"cut and paste" interior design,- food was also very traditionally Chinese- plentyful, predictable, and , yes- uninspired, like in all those thousands "golden dragons","jade lotuses",and "lucky wok"'s out there.I mean, well ,it was edible but nothing to rave about.

Great Vegetarian at a great value!. If you looking for great veggie food and great service this is the place. We were just there last weekend June 23, 2007 for lunch. We decided on the Dim Sum buffet. The owner made all the selections for us and we were nothing but surprised and happy about how wonderful the food was. The price was $10/each and I have to tell you, I felt guilty about paying only $20 for such a great meal. I live in NY and this was better than I've had in Chinatown.

Best Chinese food in Philadelphia. This is the best Chinese food period in the city. I have always brought non-vegetarians to the restaurant and they all asked to come back. There is all you can eat dim sum for $10/person. I recommend bringing more than two people because the servings are huge.
