Excellent Men's Tailor.
I think it is fair to say that there are tailor's who do men's clothes and tailors who do women's clothes; kind of like barbers.
Anyhow....Royal is great for men's alterations. I have taken a half dozen suits there over the last couple of years and they have been timely, well-priced, professional and the work has been quite good.
Horrible Service!. I dropped of two pairs of pants with the tailor on a Monday. I needed the waist taken in and hem taken up on both. The older man asked me what day I needed them and I said "how about Wednesday" he said "no, Thursday" so I was OK with that. When I returned, the pants hadn't even moved from the spot I placed them on the counter Monday morning! He said he would have them finished by 6pm, but I said I have to work late and cannot be back to pick them up by that time. He said he would deliver them to me, and when he asked where I worked -- 15th and Arch Sts, only a few blocks--he took his offer back and said that is too far away! I asked for my pants back and left! What horrible service! Very disappointed and would never use b/c the offer to drop off, and then said it is "too far!" I walked there on my lunch break!
Wonderful service, prices and professionalism.. I didn?t know any tailors in the area so I gave Royal a chance and I couldn?t be happier. The gentleman that I dealt with couldn?t have been nicer, more patient and more professional with me if I had asked. I gave them a big job and they came though marvelously. I had a suit jacket that was way too big and needed some serious surgery; tucking, pulling and clipping all had to be done. They?re a small outfit with, what I thought, very reasonable prices. Try them out. The only real downside is that they don't accept credit/debit cards. Not a huge deal but I did have to leave the suit and return with a check. Oh well.
Extremely dissapointed!. I am seriously dissapointed with this place. I thought this place might be better than most considering alterations and tailoring is all they do. I went and dropped off a pant and an a-line skirt to be taken in. When I went to pick them up, they weren't finished. I went back the next day to get them and the job they did on my skirt was appauling. It's no longer an a-line skirt... or rather only half of it is...which was extremely obvious just in holding it up and looking at it. I gave them another week to complete the skirt, and I just went to pick it up again, and they haven't gotten to it.... I'm sorry, but I expect a little more, especially considering this place is a little pricier than other places I have gone. The job they did on my pants was mediocre at best.
Best Philly Tailor. After reading a few good reviews on Royal Custom Tailor - I decided to give them a chance too (I've had bad experiences with other tailors and needed a new one). I had them take down the sleeves on my coat. The work they did was professional and very well done! They finished the job in less than a week for a very reasonable fee!! They were very helpful and kind - I will definately go back again and again.
