Quaint and cool--just what you'd expect from Old City--this local coffee shop brews excellent coffees and bakes stellar muffins. Service can be cold if you're not a regular, though.
Situated in the Reading Terminal Market this on premise roasted coffee is robust. Sip and stroll as you make your culinary selections.
A non-coffee drinker says cool beans here.... Ok...so since I am not a coffee drinker, I can't say much about the coffee here, other than the fact that they have many varieties to choose from. What is impressive about Old City is that they do great gift baskets for friends, and are more than willing to make up a basket for you on the spot if you can't find one that suits your needs. Try that one at your local Starbucks!
This unassuming coffee shop serves to remind patrons that charm can exist outside the realm of Starbucks..
In Short
Old City's coffeehouse stalwart has been roasting and brewing coffee since 1984. At the the Reading Terminal kiosk what you'll miss of the original spot's ambiance you'll gain in convenience as you grab a bag of beans during your lunch break. Counter service saves you on tips. Scones, muffins and cookies capture most of the menu. The baristas have a decent grip on making an espresso, but the basic drip coffee is simply superb.
Good Coffee, Nice Shots,Snooty Attitudes. I like to think of myself as a coffee snob and sometimes get attitude from various barrista's. it reminds me of the early days of "Bigbucks-Starbucks" as the Barrista would often correct one if you used the non-starbucks phraseology {You asked for a small coffee and they would say you would like a Tall coffee}. But, I support local, micro roasters and the coffee is nice at Old City without the bitter, burnt taste like at some other places. So, I recommend Old City, but be wary of the attitudes.
Best Coffee...period. Olde City is, by far, the best coffee in the City. Fresh roasted beans in the Reading Terminal are incredible.
Unique location, music, ambiance, coffee. Clientele is diverse, ecclectic, from the bohemian to sophisticated. Service is excellent. Music is varied and ranges from New Age to Neil Young. Just what one expects from this corner of Philadelphia. And coffee -- the best espresso in town.
who needs Starbucks??.... when you can enjoy the best local coffee shop, with far superior friendly service, in a genuinely comfortable neighborhood scene...best brew by far!
Rich, fullbodied, Flavor. Old City coffee never fails to deliver a fresh quality cup of coffee. Wireless web and an extra friendly staff is an added bonus!
