Thomas Bond House - Nytimes review years ago positive. Good location...in he Old City. New York Times review liked it years ago
Colonial elegance in the heart of downtown Philadelphia..
The Scene
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this late 18th-century building offers authentic colonial charm for tourists seeking an experience that will immerse them thoroughly in the city's rich heritage. Modern amenities are blended into a backdrop of period artwork and accessories, such as the Chippendale finishings and Spode china service that highlight the antique decor in the dining room.
The Details
All of the rooms have private baths, and to get the best out of your stay here, make sure to book into a room with a four-poster bed, fireplace and whirlpool. Complimentary breakfast is continental during the weekdays and full on weekends. The hotel offers basic business services and a small fitness center--a counter to the fresh cookies placed out nightly. Adjacent to Independence Park and close to Penn's Landing and Society Hill, this property is ideally located for sight-seeing by foot.
Great find!. I was in Philly for a night and wanted to stay downtown, but was hoping to found something more interesting and less anonymous than a corporate hotel. Citysearch turned up The Thomas Bond House, and luckily they had a room open. It was just what I was looking for - a comfortable inn, right in the heart of the city. There are great restaurants and bars right out the door in Second Street, and I had time for a quick walk around the historic district and Society Hill. Highly recommended.
