What People Are Saying About Swanky Bubbles - Old City

In Short – Even if this place does not have its tongue thoroughly planted in its cheek, it should encourage its patrons to assume the tongue-in-cheek pose upon entry. After all, no matter if you're sipping Dom or swigging on Brut Rose, you can't possibly take yourself seriously at a place called Swanky Bubbles. The over-the-top enchantment under the sea scene obligates you to order a pretty plate of sushi and a pink and fizzy "Oui-Oui."
Hair in my food:repulsive!

On November 14, 2009 two friends & I dined at Swanky Bubbles in Old City. There was hair in the sicky fried rice had HAIR in it, yuck. The hair was rolled inside the rice.
There are too many other good options in Old City...

Food was basic Asian fusion.. sometimes you expect more from Old City. The manager has extremely poor social skills and through his "joking" made us feel extremely unwelcome (ironically, in telling us that we should be careful what you say while eavesdropping on our conversation). This is why this business has gone downhill in the last few years- you need to make your customers feel welcome. Not impressed.
- Pros: Bartender
- Cons: Bathrooms, General Manager
Great food $$$and Horrible service - NEVER again.

Absolutely correct in all respects. This was our first (and last) time at Swanky Bubbles. We were a large group to celebrate a friends birthday. Well - the waitress (and I think also a manager - an asian lady) was quite rude and indifferent the entire time we were there. It wasn't just my impression - we all commented on it after leaving.
The food is very good. No doubt about it. And the drinks are also very good. But it's not cheap - expect $50 per person with a drink or two each. i.e.: a single bottle of domestic beer is $7 and up. And that would be fine - EXCEPT for the nasty treatment by our waitress.
Since our party was large we got stuck with a mandatory 20% for her hideous service. We will NEVER again go there. At $50 a head we could eat pretty much anywhere and also be treated like customers.
