Consistently Great!. I have been to this restaurant about 5 times, needless to say I love it here!! The staff is nice and the service is great. The food is for sharing so this place is great for groups but even good for alone time with your special person. The atmosphere is really good too - romantic but yet fun. Great food and drinks. Their Lobster Risoto is wonderful, filet mignon, sushi, you bascially can't go wrong with anything you order! One of my favorite cocktails is the Purple Passion - keep them coming! I will always recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an enjoyable night out with your wife/hubby or with a good group of friends! Perfect. The prices are great too...not over priced! They have Valet parking too which is good. Can't go wrong with Swanky Bubbles!!!
Great atmosphere and drinks...sushi leaves room for desire. Fun bar, delicious champagne cocktails, great atmosphere, sushi ...is a little iffy. My first experience there was great all though the maki rolls were huge and a little messy (I wouldn't recommend it for a first date if you're trying to make a good impression). The second time I went I wasn't quite satisfied with my sushi. However, they do have a creative line-up of rolls and also offer a variety of cooked rolls for the raw-fish-phobic. It was good, but it has still left me in search a truly great sushi restaurant in the city. I would definitely go back for drinks though!
just ok. I finally went to Swanky Bubbles recently and was dissapointed. We were a little late for our reservations and had to sit upstairs. Maybe that ruined it, because the ambience downstairs is definitely preferred. Upstairs is mostly used for big groups and the did not continue the decorating or theme up there. Our server was bored and uninterested even though she knew it was our first time there. The sushi was ok and my entree (thai dish w/ fried wontons instead of rice) was incredibly salty! The only positive was the yummy champagne cocktail. But there were so many choices on the sushi and cocktail menus, it would have helped to have a server that cared to give suggestions and make the experience worth it. If I go back again I would only sit downstairs, but definitely will not be rushing back.
Chic` Spot for Quality Eats & Drinks on Weekends Before A Night Out.... Definitely highly recommend. I loved the food. The vibe. The bill. The DJ was also a great addition as he was certainly dropping that fire. One thing though...avoid the banana split because it missing the banana and ice cream. The steak was very good as was the barby-q shrimp. Don't let the sh*tty name fool you, the bill for two should run about $60. So its while it may be swanky its not very pricey. All in all, great experience. When we told them about an entree that was missing for the bill, our uber professional server gave us a round of free bubbly. I recommend getting there for an 8 pm dinner and hitting the Old City streets shortly thereafter.
Great atmosphere with so many choices. This was my first experience in the city of Philadelphia. Being from Baltimore, my boyfriend wanted to take me into the city to show me around and have a great night...mission accomplished!!! I had a few too many glasses of Champagne and Chambord, but that's what they're known for...the Champagne!!! The food was great, so was the service. The parking was $20 but that's not Swanky's fault :( Cool decor...all around fun!!!
Such A Great Time!. OK, I was nearly misled by other reviews. My friends and I went for a champagne tasting and had the best time ever. This place has the yummiest chicken fried rice I've ever had. The sushi was amazing and they serve it until 1am everyday! We heard about a champagne tasting and just had to go. We met some of the nicest people ever. The staff was so friendly. Such a bunch of sweeties. We tried so many delicious champagnes and learned so much. The manager really knows his stuff. I had read some harsh words, but must strongly disagree. We can't wait to go back! Keep your head up Swanky. This place is a must try!
Rude Manager (but nice waitress).
I usually like this resturant, or at least the drinks, but my last experience there left me with a horrid taste in my mouth for the managment.
I took my friend, who was going there for the first time. He is very into asian culture and was admiring the unusual chopsticks that they have on the table. He asked the waitress if he could either purchase a pair or if she knew where he could buy similar ones. The waitress (who was very pleasant) went to ask a manager. She asked the manager right next to our table. The woman's response was, "I don't know but make sure to clear the chopsticks from that table and check the tables around those people when they leave because if they are asking about it, they are probably going to steal them." Little did she know WE were the table asking.
Now, I'm sure that they get the chopsticks stolen all the time, but if we were asking about them, I would think that means we are honest people. If you are going to be so dumb to say something like that, say it in the kitchen, where customers can't hear you.
I ended up assuring the waitress that we are not theives (heck, I'm a DA and my friend is a police officer) and that their chopsticks were safe. I'm hoping that it got back to the manager. It was so snotty and pretentious, that I don't know that I will be heading back there any time soon...
how this place stands. . .. I have absolutely no idea how this restaurant has received these high ratings. was there VERY recently and should have known straight from the get-go that it was a bad idea. First, a sushi joint without a sushi bar...something must be wrong. The decoration of this place is out of control i would be utterly embarrassed to take someone on a date here, not unless it was a joke, it was as cheesy and over decorated as a old school swingers club. Matted carpet at what should be a fresh, "SWANK" sushi place, c'mon now!! Lets move passed what it LOOKED like. The food. . . I literally could not get passed the appetizer in fear of what the raw fish would taste like. We ordered shrimp and veggie tempura (playing if safe) and when it came out it wasn't tempura rather it was once FROZEN shrimp and veggies DEEP FRIED straight from the frozen plastic bag, you could call it by the way it smelled (as I did). We had ordered plenty of sushi but told the server that we had to bounce (told her my partner was feeling ill) because well we didn't want the server to pick up any slack for our disliking this place. Unfortunately this was our last experience in philly (coming from NY) and it LITERALLY left a bad taste in our mouth.
The restaurant is good for groups of people, couples don't go. I went one time with a date and wound up sitting so close to the other table, it felt like a double date. They could hear everything we were saying and viseversa.
Moving on to a bigger issue, the restaurant is supposedly known for sushi, yet it was horrible! After the "double date", i went one other time to this restaurant with a group. We had the private room upstairs. Everyone had ordered sushi and while it was being brought out, I got up to use the restroom. When I returned to the room, there was a pungent smell of roten fish there. The sushi was not fresh at all. The california roll had to be chewed, whereas in other places, it's so soft it practically melts in your mouth. All of us were starving so we devoured the food since we would have had to wait for another 30 minutes or so for cooked food to come out. We were left with a bad taste in our mouth (literally) and then upset stomach the next morning. DO NOT GO!!
Avoid at all cost necessary. savage mistreatment. I have been to this restaurant several times with good results. However, my last visit was the most indignant experience of my life. I went there with my best friend and her friend during restaurant week. Our reservation was not honored. We were asked to wait for tables to become available. After waiting for 42 minutes we asked how much longer we needed to wait. The general manager was discourteous and told us that he would let us know when the table became available. We tried to explain that it was not right, that we had a reservation. He, in turn told us that it was hard to seat 3 people that was the reason everybody else was going in front of us. We tried to reason with him and explain that it was not our problem and that we were never told of that inconvenience before. At that point the general manager told us that there was no point for us to wait because we were not going to be happy regardless of what he did. WE WERE ASKED TO LEAVE! There are no nice words that I can choose from to explain the details in which we were savagely mistreated. I strongly recommend that you call ahead and ask specific questions about getting a table there. I cannot stop apologizing to my best friend for embarrassing her with her friend that night by taking them there.
