What People Are Saying About Kisso Suishi Bar

In Short – Warm rust-colored wood, delicate flower arrangements and tatami mats on the floor and walls set the tone for this beautiful restaurant where calm and orderliness reign. Old wood chairs surround each table and modern, metal stools line the sushi bar. You'll find traditional Japanese tavern food, from edamame (boiled soy beans) to sashimi to seaweed salad to broiled eel and classic sushi such as tekka maki (tuna roll). Wacky local inventions like the six-piece "hot dog" roll with broiled yellowtail, asparagus and scallions are a must. Non-sushi standouts include broiled salmon…

What to Drink:
The bottles on the walls are just a tease. Bring your own sake or alcohol of choice.

Best Sushi Philadelphia

by sjtg at Citysearch

Best sushi in Philadelphia. Been to all the sushi places in Philly and this is by far the best. May not have the trendy atmosphere of other restaurants but does have the freshest, most delicious sushi around. Prompt, attentive and friendly staff. Must go.

Fantastic experience!

by dconk at Citysearch

First time to Kisso--it was everything I could ask for and more! The service was phenomenal and the sushi was gorgeous! As soon as I saw it I knew it was going to be delicious. Every bite was a flavorful mouth-gasm! The server was so prompt and personable and went out of her way to help us get something special. I would recommend Kisso to anyone. You can BYOB and the server recommended making reservations because its a small place that can get packed.

  • Pros: awesome sushi, amazing service, inviting atmosphere
  • Cons: none

Great Experience

by SalM at Citysearch

I visited Kisso's on Saturday night. It was my first sushi experience. Alex offered a very wide range of dishes stating with the very simple but elegant vegtable rolls and worked up to some of the more exotic things like squid and baby quail eggs.

It was a very casual and delightful experience and the food was excellant!

I can't wait to go back.

Amazing Service

by JAA1983 at Citysearch

The sushi was amazing. We ordered the S.S.T. Maki roll, the special roll with eel & avocado & tuna, and the yellowtail with scallions. Amazing. Our server was so nice. I mentioned on the phone that it was my boyfriend's birthday and asked if it was OK to bring a cake. I decided against it but when it came time for dessert, the waiter brought out a strawberry mochi with a candle in it for him. I ordered the green tea mochi which was very good. I have been here before a few times, and enjoyed every experience, but this was exceptional.
