Editorial Review for Lore's Chocolates – by Maura Johnston

In Short
Chocolate-covered pretzels and Irish potatoes (coconut centers rolled in cinnamon, not chocolate) are the specialties at Lore's, which doubles as a chocolate factory. Some of the workers who help you pick and choose your candies are fresh from that factory--you can tell because of the board of health-required lace-edged caps they wear. Unsure about whether to drown your chocolate cravings in milk or dark? There are handy samples of each, in the form of premelted molders' chocolate, out on the glass-topped tables while you select from the varieties of peanut butter cups, buttercreams and cherry cordials underneath.

Know Before You Go

Lore's produces seasonal varieties for every holiday on the calendar, with Valentine's Day and Easter being some of their busiest times. The shop fills up with holiday-centric candy about a month before the big day, allowing for plenty of time to get into a chocolate-fueled spirit.

RE: POOJONES13 and his negative response. I have been a customer of Lore's Chocolate Spot for over 25 years. Everyone knows, you place your order at the counter.....you don't stand over a piece of chocolate, waiting for someone to come to you. Every time I come in the door and up the steps....The customer service is wonderful. They always remember me as one of the girls from TWA. Every year when I place my IRISH POTATO order, even if it's over the phone....they remember me, and are always friendly. I also noticed that Mr. POOJONES13 likes to write negative feedback anywhere he and his domestic partner go. Look POO, life is too short. Don't sweat the small stuff. Also, if you don't have anything nice to say...don't say anything at all. Enjoy your Almond Bark Poo. and next time just bring it to the managers attention. God Bless! Acqua D. PS. LORE'S STILL HAS THE BEST IRISH POTATOES IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Pros: Best Irish Potato in town

Cons: Get crowded during holiday~wish they were open on Saturday

Could become habit-forming. Separate tables for dark and milk; you can select up to 4 varieties for a 1-lb box. My faves: dark chocolate coconut clusters & dark chocolate pecan clusters. MMMMMMmmmmmm......
