In Short – Some classes at this fitness club are so popular that it's not unusual to find participants traveling from as far away as Delaware or Newtown Square just to attend. The gym is frequented by Wharton students; and if they can't spot a good deal, who can? Family-run, the gym occupies 12,000 square feet right off Rittenhouse Square and features Nautilus and Kaiser circuit equipment, a 44-piece cardio center and 55 aerobic classes per week.
great value gym - but sometimes you get what you pay for

This gym has great rates and is in a great location. My activities at any gym usually include elliptical, free weights and mostly fitness classes - the selection here is satisfactory. If I don't have an appointment its hard to motivate myself to actually do something- so I go to my regularly scheduled classes and make sure I get my workouts in. The majority of the instructors here are motivating, creative and just plain nice! Classes can be extremely fun and you get out of them what you put into them - for aerobics, strength & stretching/yoga. However, a subset of the (older) women who attend the aerobics classes semi-regularly are there to say, "i've been to the gym" and are not there to really concentrate or push themselves to their personal best. These woman also take that (lack of) spirit out on others who are there to work really hard. I now feel uncomfortable at the gym and might have to pay that little bit more to go someplace with all the other younger stereotypical gym folk. It really is unfortunate because the staff are real folk who are extremely nice and caring.
- Pros: the kind staff & great price.
- Cons: a subset of the older women who attend class are extremely negative
Great gym for a great price.

The Rittenhouse Fitness Club is a great gym and the price is the best in town. Classes are great. I usually went in the mornings which were never crowded. The equipment is a little older than some gyms, but for what I needed it was worth every penny. Ernie is a really asset to the Club - very friendly. They even let you sell your membership back if you move away!!
- Pros: Great price, everything I needed
- Cons: Equipment is a little older.
best deal in the city

I spent a lot of time checking out other fitness clubs in the city, and there is simply no better deal than this gym. They have a ton of classes and the instructors are great. They also have Precor treadmills and ellipticals which are great machines. For my money, this is the best deal in the city.
- Pros: inexpensive, aerobics included, clean
