And to top it off, while I was getting my hair done I noticed in the mirror two familiar faces and I realized it's Demi Moore and Parker Posey. behind me So if it wasn't enough that my hair looks great, I was also pleasantly surprised. This haircut was just the change I was looking for and I feel great, Thank you, Ashley. I'll be seeing you soon.
My Day was Perfect!. Whitneyanne after reading your review I must tell you I am suprised by your experience. I was married during the month of May and Erin the Wedding Coordinator was so helpful arranging appointments for my Wedding Party, all we needed to do was arrive ready to be pampered. We began our day with a massage followed by a facial, mani & pedi, hair and makeup. It was absolutely amazing how peaceful the day was. I left so relaxed it was hard to believe I was getting married in just a few hours.
Excellent Services!. My friends and I visitied Adolf Biecker recently for masages, facials, and manicures and had a fabulous time! From checking-in, to checking-out, the front desk was very accomodating catering to our group, and the services are the best I have had in the city. I loved my La Stone massage and Elemental Facial and we had a great time in the Nail Reteat all getting our nails done at the same time. I look forward to returning to Adolf Biecker!
Worst manicure and makeup advice I've ever had. Totally incompetent staff..
Two days before my sister's wedding, I visited the Adolf Biecker salon for a makeup application and a manicure. A complete disaster, so much so that I wish I'd never gone. The manicure peeled off within 24 hours, so that I had to redo myself right before a wedding.
As for the makeup advice from Rachel, it was wrong in every way. She ignored my stated preferences and concerns, such as my love of the Aveda lipstick in Schizandra that I was wearing and the Aveda translucent loose powder that I wanted to purchase more of. Instead, she wiped off my lipstick and globbed on some awful gloss that made my mouth appear as if it were bleeding, and dabbed gold dust on my bottom lip, resulting in an unflattering mess. Worse, she insisted that I purchase the Aveda Dual Foundation in Cream, even though my skin requires very little coverage. I could not tell in the unnatural light of the salon how wrong it was for me-- too thick and white, hiding and aging my skin instead of enhancing it. Besides, I was too distracted by the disgusting lip cosmetics to notice what else was wrong with her application. Of course her colleagues in the salon gushed about how pretty my makeup was, so I felt pressured to buy what she suggested.
Having naively followed Rachel's advice about the powder foundation, I ended up looking like a dead clown at my sister's wedding. Although upon application it appeared alright, within an hour it thickened into a white pasty mask. Had I been encouraged to stick with what I knew I liked, or at least to test out this new product in natural light before the big event, I could have been spared the embarrassment of wedding photos with me sporting the ugliest face I have ever had the misfortune to show in public.
Since then I visited the Aveda store at Liberty Place, where all of the employees agreed that Rachel's suggestion was totally inappropriate for me.
I cannot understate how poorly the folks at the Adolf Biecker salon prepared me for my sister's wedding.
DOREEN IS HORRIBLE MASSAGE THERAPIST. I had an appointment for a massage with a therapist (Doreen) this past Sunday and it was such a horrible experience. When she introduced herself, she didn't even say hello; she simply said "ready" in the rudest way possible. She then complained that she was booked solid all day and stressed out. Needless to say, this was not a good way to start out a relaxing massage. She rushed through the entire massage and put nothing into it. I have had several massages in my life, and this woman has a really horrible energy. I walked into it relaxed and walked out completely stressed out. I said something to the front desk and they said that they were going to talk to her but I got the feeling that they thought I was just trying to get a free massage. She ruined my day, so Im writing this review so no one goes to her and has their day ruined by her as well.
Unprofessional, terrible experience. I cannot say this based on actually experiencing the spa, but I had an appointment there which was rudely cancelled at the last minute with barely any warning and zero accomodation. It was the day before my wedding, and I had scheduled a massage to relax a bit, and when I got home from running errands there was a message saying "Sorry, your therapist didn't show up, we have to cancel your appointment". When I called and asked it they could reschedule me with someone else, they said no, not that day. All I got was a brusque "sorry" for ruining the whole day (by cancelling the one appointment I had been looking forward to all month). It was ridiculously unprofessional, first to have staff simply not show up, and not to have any backups to fill in, and to not offer any accomodation at all. I find it particularly offensive considering if I had cancelled with only a few hours notice I would have been charged the full price (I had to give my credit card number when making the reservation). But apparently, despite this policy, there is no recourse for customers when they cancel at the last minute. Totally, ridiculously unprofessional. I won't even bother to make an appointment there again and I recommend you don't bother either.
A Terrible Experience!. My husband and I went to Adolf Biecker for a very special wedding anniversary. I made the reservation 6 weeks in advance and the salon called the day before to confirm. We arrived a 1/2 hour before our appointments only to be informed that one of the massage therapists called in sick and they would not be able to give one of us an hour massage. They said they left a message that morning letting us know. I later found out that they called at 12:00pm, a mere 4 hours prior to my appointment. First of all, if I called 4 hours prior to my appointment to cancel I would have been charged a cancellation fee. Second of all, they acted like it was no big deal that we were inconvenienced and that it was my problem, not theirs. They "made it up to us" by offering one of us a 1/2 massage if "we really hurried". The staff made no other attempts to apologize, offered nothing else for the inconvenience and never bothered to walk us around to show us where the amenities were. I had to have another spa customer show me where the pool, steam room and sauna were, only to discover that the steam room was filthy and the sauna was turned off. To top it all off, I received a sports massage that was mediocre at best. If it was their idea of deep tissue, I'd hate to see what their light pressure massage would feel like! This place was a huge disappointent and definitely not worth the money.
Great Experience!. I took my sister here to celebrate her birthday. We had the body masque treatments and Swedish massages. It was amazing. I had never had a body masque treatment before, but the technician Galia made me feel comfortable right away and it was so relaxing. The entire staff seemed friendly and professional. My sister was asking everyone to feel how soft her skin was afterwards!!
Great experience!!!!.
Recently I was fortunate enough to be given a gift certificate from my husband for a day at Adolf Biecker. I enjoyed every minute of my day there. I had a fabulous facial, waxing and body service. Also, a great conditioning treatment, cut and blowdry.
The staff and facility definitely deserves the reputation it has. EXCELLENT!!!
I already booked my next three appointments.
Made my hair problem worse!. What a disappointment. The setting looks high end until you are escorted to the dressing area and service stations, and you can see how old and dank everything is. That being said, I've had great haircuts at some old or rough-around-the-edges salons. The worst thing here is the actual service: the stylist I saw was supposedly a master stylist whose cuts are $80 (I know, these aren't NY prices but this is hardly a deal for the terrible cut) but her cut ranks among the the worst I've had. In fact, I went in to get a random bad cut fixed, after having this place highly recommended, and the "fix" is easily as bad as the problem. Right after the blow-out it didn't look too bad, and I would certainly have said something while there if I could see what a crappy job she did, but now that I'm home? My hair has calmed down from the blow-out and I see that she actually emphasized the flaws in the previous cut. I'm more lopsided than before, and lost length to boot. I'm ready to cut it all short again and start growing out from scratch -- NOT what I expected!
