Burned hair: A bad experience

I previously wrote a 5-star review of this salon because I finally found a colorist and stylist who did a fantastic job on a consistent basis.

Unfortunately, my most recent experience at Oggi soured all of the others. My stylist did a fabulous job of coloring my hair, but burned a 3 x 1 inch section of my hair with a flat iron.

I could smell it as it happened, but, as I told her, I never use flat irons, so it was new to me and I was nervous to question it. When I washed it a few days later in preparation for a wedding, the stink of burned hair that had been following me for a few days was enhanced. When I got out of the shower, that section at the back of my head promptly curled up into a frizzy brillo pad.

Owner Victor Fiore initially denied that a flat iron would ever cause such damage when I called the salon for help. When I went in person, he finally agreed that the hair was irreparably damaged, but refused any kind of refund. He remained unapologetic, dismissive, and curt throughout our conversation.

It is always disheartening to learn that a business is being run by someone who seems to have no interest in accomodating his loyal clients.

Mistakes happen, but beware that if one does at Oggi, you won't get any sympathy from him.

Had a wonderful first experience!

Having not had a hair stylist that I felt comfortable and connected enough to be very loyal, I had taken to salon jumping and basically neglect of my hair for the past two years. Finally, as my locks hung limp and frayed, I looked in the mirror one morning and decided I had had enough. I wanted to be committed and loyal to healthy hair, but I needed to find my hair guru first. I set out on the scooter, determined to find the right match.

When I arrived at Oggi I was warmly welcomed at the reception and was told that Toby could see me for a consultation. Let's pause here. Most places I visited told me that I would have to schedule and pay ($15 seemed to be the norm) for a consultation. The fact that they took me on the spot, gratis, already had Oggi in a favorable position.

I immediately love Tobys professionalism and sincerity. What won me over was his confidence and concise answers to my questions. He knew exactly what he wanted to do with my hair, taking into consideration my lifestyle and face shape and my ultimate vision for my dream hair (Victoria's Secret model hair...why not dream big, right?).

When I went back downstairs to schedule my appointment, I was sure I'd have to wait another 3 weeks or so to get in. Again, I was pleasantly surprised when they were able to fit me in for that Saturday.

Sure enough, Toby did not disappoint when it came to the actual day of cutting and coloring. My hair looks healthy, shiny, and natural. My blowout was by far the best I have ever had.

I have found my new hair guru and look forward to many years of loyal patronage. Thanks Toby!!

Cynthia gave me the best haircut!

Cynthia is the best! I am super lazy and my hair is generally uncooperative. After a brief consultation with Cynthia, she identified what I was generally looking for but kicked it up a notch or two. I let her work her magic and I now have a awesome low maintenance cut that not only frames my face beautifully but broke me out of the boring. She is genuinely excited about her profession and takes serious pride in her work. She definitely should since her skill and technique is flawless with the end results as proof. I have not gotten so many compliments on my hair in a long time. Why are you still reading this?! Make an appointment with her already! You won't regret it!

blowout

i've been coming in to Henry for a few years to get blowdrys. After searching around too many salons in the area (trust me there's A LOT) i was recommended to see Henry. The second i was in his chair i felt so welcomed! from the deskwoman to the lovely staff it was a warm environment unlike most snooty salons. Even while getting shampooed i began talking to other women sitting with color about Henry and we all agreed on our new found love! Needless to say i was so happy with my blowdry and have been going for so long now! If you ever need a pick me up and beautiful hair go see Henry at Oggi!!

AND PS to the "bridal trial", maybe Henry recommended you go to another salon because it sounds like you were very diffiult to deal with! what kind of styist would TURN AWAY business i ask you?
