Just OK. My husband purchased a couples package and I was somewhat nervous because of the mixed reviews on this and other sites. He was impressed by their website which doesn?t have photos of the spa interior or exterior. I found that omission to be very strange. I get facials and massages and have been to day spas a few times but then I have gone to those that are well known or highly recommended. Since we don't live in Philadelphia, I was considering this an adventure.

We both had a positive experience here. My massage was very good and the therapist paid extra attention to troubled areas. The foot scrub/massage was OK. The technician decided not to steam my face during my facial, a good call because I have broken capillaries, but then did no extractions. 90% of why I get a facial is to get my pores extracted. There was no explanation of what she was putting on my face except to warn me that she was spraying toner. And my hair wasn?t wrapped up so I walked out a greasy mess.

Lunch was a salad and an ice cream parfait, unexpected for a spa lunch, maybe some fresh fruit instead. The decor is pretty much what I expected from a stand alone day spa. The exception is the meditation room which is oddly furnished and completely dark except for a few scented candles. In a closed room, that?s a bad thing and the scent gave me a headache because we were left there for quite a while. Nothing Zen or meditation-like about it, although my husband fit a nap in (we were left there that long). Facilities were clean and the flip-flops (not slippers) provided were clean. We were supposed to get a free gift but it wasn?t offered to us, and should we really have to ask for it?

Parking on the side of the building is an added convenience. I think that if you go to this spa often enough to be considered a regular, you will be treated very well as the staff was very nice and competent. The prices are less expensive than other day spas in the area. There is nothing is particularly pulling me back there for another visit but there is little reason to avoid the place either if it is convenient for you.

Always a Great Experience. I wish I could go more often. My husband introduced me to Total Serenity Day Spa a couple years ago with a spa package for my birthday. Since then I've been back a few other times for massages but mostly facials, especially the anti aging facials and their facial products.

Its always a great experience. As soon as the front desk staff welcomes you into the lobby you get that first whiff of soothing aromatherapy, then there's the soft robe and slippers, always an offer for tea, water, the dimmed waiting room with the couches, and the service itself. Everyone is always polite and helpful and the atmosphere never disappoints to put a smile on your face. It never feels like you're just going for quality service, but also looking forward to a rewarding and relaxing experience.

Day of Serenity - After Vacation. After a 7-night vacation with family in Palm Springs, CA with a couple of day trips to San Diego and LA, I needed some "me" time. I spent Labor Day searching for a local, African-American spa, I chose Total Serenity Day Spa without reading a single review, which my friends know is unlike me. I am happy to tell you the experience was GREAT -- from scheduling my services with Melonie, the welcome upon my arrival, services performed by David and Twana, to the conversation shared with the desk attendant (sorry, I really don't want to mess up your name) before leaving.

I've received services at many of the finest Spas in my travels, Total Serenity Day Spa Inc. did not fall short in comparison. My only suggestion would be more aromatherapy in the reception and meditation areas. Also, consider working with The Westin Hotel to offer a spa/hotel package -- they were, pleasantly, familiar with Total Serenity when they asked me which Spa I would be visiting.

As promised, I will be back very soon, and I have already spread the word about Total Serenity Day Spa -- one of Philly's best kept secrets is being shared with friends in NJ, Philly and Delaware.

Total Serenity and more. I’m not one to write reviews, but after reading the reviews before my visit, I feel compelled to give the Spa much prompts. I treated my husband to his first massage for our 14th anniversary. From my initial call with Melanie, until my husband and I walked out the door it was wonderful. Melanie did a great job helping me choose services and a restaurant. Not being from Philly, this was a big help. The couple massage was outstanding. Thank you Tawana (hope I spelled it right) and Alex for a great massage. We enjoyed it immensely. Everyone was very pleasant. We went on a Friday evening and everyone already had a long day, but that did not stop them from treating us like a king and queen. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Lastly, the down payment. Yes, I had to put a down payment. This was not a big deal because so many of us call ourselves supporting our people and we are the first to do them wrong. Therefore, I am sure this policy was put in place because Total Serenity was tired of being burned.

If I had to make suggestions, I would love for the spa to have more scented candles around.

Total Serentity, keep doing what you do.

Excellent Service. The massage therapist that I was supposed to have was running late so they called me to check if I would be okay with a male instead. They then asked me if I could come early for my waxing and massage.

Despite a rough start, I really enjoyed my overall experience. Based on the price, I expected something a little nicer (as far as visual appeal), but the service was great!

My waxing with Vera was great. She made me feel very comfortable and knew exactly what she was doing.

This was my first massage with a male and I must admit that it was better than I thought it would be. Marcel was very nice and made sure that I was comfortable. They even brought me a champagne glass of water after my massage.

I will definitely be going back!

Can you say spa perfection?. My first spa experience was FANTABULOUS! As soon as I walked in, they treated my like royalty. The staff was very polite and professional. I received a 30 minute body massage and a facial. The facilities were super clean! The staff converse with you just like they were your friends. They are very thorough with their massages and they value you and your business. I felt like a new person after I left. I floated all the way home.

Great experience.... as always!. Facial - My facial was amazing! Very clean, thorough, and Twana knew exactly how to approach my skin. She was very patient, suggested products for my skin type and she was simply pleasant.

Body Scrub - The scrub at first seemed a bit abrasive because the therapist was using a dry exfoliating brush/sponge, and then actually used the salt scrub after. I'm used to simply the salt scrub, but it still left my skin very smooth and not too sensitive afterwards.

Massage -- The massage was amazing and the reflexology was great.

Staff -- Very pleasant, and always smiling. I've never had an unpleasant or unwelcoming feeling from the staff (either over the phone or in person).

Lunch -- The light lunch was hands down the best salad I've had in an extremely LONG time. The ginger tea was right on time too!

Fantastic Experience. I recently visited Total Serenity Spa for the first time and was not quite sure what to expect. From the moment I walked in, I felt at ease and relaxed. The staff made me feel welcome and there is no reason to feel self-conscious about anything because they make you feel right at home and very comfortable. After changing into a soft robe and slippers, I was taken to the meditation room for a few minutes to relax. That is the most wonderful room with comfy sofas and low lighting. It really put me in a peaceful mood after travelling over an hour on a hot day in heavy traffic to get there. I had the herbal body wrap and a massage -- both were equally great. I was there for a little over two hours and when I was finished, I did not want to go home. I will definitely go back asap and highly recommend Total Serenity Spa to anyone.
