Best Facial in Philadelphia. I have been a client of Topper's since they were at the Bourse building.services are great, and they treat me well. most of the time i am a walk in client and don't specify a particular technician. I went to jen for facials recently for what i thought were good facials, but the other day I was given the good fortune of getting Realeah for a facial.wow.is that what i have been missing?finally topper's has a facialist that knows her stuff!extremely relaxing, meditative.i will schedule with her for now on
Very pleased with Johnny Valentine.. I am terrified of going to new stylists -- you never know what you're going to look like when you leave -- but I was pleasantly surprised and very much pleased with Johnny V. at Toppers. He listened to me and what I wanted, but, more importantly, he KNEW how to cut my hair to make it look its best (I was in the awkward phase of growing out processed hair and had half a head of new growth and half a head of chemically treated hair). On subsequent visits he has made good recommendations and most recently I've had the keratin straightening - so far so good!
Johnny Valentine is da bomb!.
Johnny V. made me a believer when he rescued me from my previous hairdresser. On my first consultation, he performed some miracle color and highlight magic, and it's been a great experience and introduction to the wonderful staff of Topper's Rittenhouse.
Being a former cosmetologist, I know the challenges haircoloring and styling can be for my type of hair, but it never seems to phase Johnny. He is always accommodating and even arranged my appts. and formulas with the salon when he was out of the salon for his operation so I never missed a touch up.
When I took my son for a haircut, he was apprehensive moving from his barber, but Johnny did wonders and my son loves coming with me now, which is more convenient for my schedule.
His Facebook specials are especially enticing in the economical crisis we all are experiencing these days, but he's worth every penny anyhow!
I loves me some Johnny Valentine!!!.
I trust VERY few people with my hair, but with Johnny Valentine, I worry no more. I've followed JV loyaly from previous salons to his current chair at Toppers and I would even follow him to (gasp!...dare I say?) the Northeast, if thats where his shears were trimming.
JV is no one trick pony. He is very versatile and works with you to give you the best style for you. Whether it be highlights, a cut, or just a blo-out, I always leave JV feeling and looking like a diva (not acting like one, though). Even though JV does stellar work, he doesn't let it get to his head - he just proves it on yours.
I actually don't get my color and cut done at the same time so I can visit JV more often. I love his blo-outs and he takes his time giving me a carefully manicured coif.
Visit Johnny Valentine at Toppers and you will not be diappointed.
PS- become his facebook friend and you will get coupons and discounts on his services!!
has one of the best hair dressers in the city!!. he cares about what you want
5 Stars for Johnny Valentine. If had mostly positive experiences with Topper's spa facilities but their best thing going is Johnny Valentine in hair care. I've switched from my stylist of 15 years AND sending my wife to him. Uncompensated review, BTW!
dirty. yuck, nothing is worse than a dirty spa bathroom or lounge. wake up folks and start cleaning!
Spa Area Needs Renovation.
I got a Swedish massage at Toppers last Saturday. Violet was my therapist. She was quite good and responsive to my requests.
The problem with Toppers is that its spa area is embarrassingly outdated. The carpet, which is a bit of turn off in itself, was old and damp. The furnishings were dated and dusty. The place looks like it has not been renovated in the last 20 years. The locker area was also old and unimpressive.
The worst part was that there was a creaky floorboard in my massage room. So, while Violet was a capable therapist, it was difficult to relax because the floor was constantly squeaking.
Overall, the experience was just ok. But, there are spas in Philadelphia that have substantially nicer facilities. Toppers appears to be coasting on its name without investing in its facilities to maintain its reputation.
WORST/FILTHY EVER. I GOT A GC FROM MY GIRLFRIEND TO GET A RELAXING SERVICE AT A SO CALLED 5 STAR SALON SPA IN NEWTOWN I WAS RUSHED AND WHILE IN THE WAITING ROOM ALL I COULD HEAR WAS THE BICKERING BETWEEN EMPLOYEES ON HOW HORRIBLE THEIR JOBS ARE AND HOW DIRTY THE PLACE WAS SO I PUT THAT ASIDE AND TRIED TO RELAX BUT AFTER THE OK MASSAGE WAS CUT 20 MINUTES SHORT AND I WALKED TO THE SHOWER I LOOKED AT MY FEET AND THEY WERE BLACK I WAS DISGUSTED AND WILL NEVER RETURN TO ANY TOPPERS LOCATION AGAIN
Just discovered CitySearch! Wish I'd known about it longer, so I could be writing more reviews!
This happened a while back, I don't even remember if my massage was good or not, because the only thing that sticks out in my mind was a member of management screaming at workers as I was waiting for my appointment.
(Please see my review of 3000bc for more on this, but:) Management needs to treat people better. Also, never scream in a spa. Just awful, don't waste your time here.
