This hotel is known by many names--The Grand Dame of Philadelphia, to mention its most illustrious--and known to all for the elegant charm of its gracious host, W.J. Buchanan. Built in 1853, this Rittenhouse Square townhouse is popular with discriminating travelers--those who consider their hotel a destination in and of itself--who understand the true meaning of personal service and prefer luxury on an intimate scale.

The Details
The rooms offer a bright and airy atmosphere, with beautiful furnishings and artwork. Each bath is shared between two rooms, and suites feature their own private baths. You'll feel as if you're a guest in a private home, as you take breakfast beneath the chandelier in the dining room, or relax in the library or drawing room. In the reception area, a Steinway piano impresses musical visitors, who are invited to tinkle the ivories, while the garden is a great place to catch a few rays during the summer months.

A charming setting for an intimate wedding. We were looking for a place where we could host our wedding and accommodate our family. When we visited the La Reserve B&B we were immediately in love. A gorgeous house for an intimate wedding. Ideal!

The owners made it very clear that we were here at home which fit perfectly with our mindset. We were free to decorate and rearrange according to our needs for our ceremony. We were encouraged to take advantage of the whole house.

Each morning a wonderful breakfast was served in the dinning room and we all had a chance to enjoy this time together as a family in a relaxed atmosphere. Not the words you would typically hear when describing wedding preparations.

Our experience was from beginning to end what we had dreamed of, a quaint and charming setting that belonged to us for a short while on our wedding.
