Nothing special. This place is nothing special. It's a chain:

Pros: Recently renovated. Nice updated decor. Better beers on tap than many places but not great. Pub quiz on thursdays, which I like but haven't had a chance to attend.

Cons: It's a chain. What does this mean? It means you get so-so service and everything is the same as every other location. The food is not good. I had the shepherd's pie which was blah. Go to tir na nog (5 min walk) for WAY better pie. The chicken curry I did not like at all.

I've been to this place several times for the location alone. Sometimes I stay at the Crowne Plaza and it's right downstairs so it's convenient. Otherwise, I'd probably never go there.

Best Fish and Chips in Philadelphia!. This pub offers a great ambience for a Friday or Lunch or Happy Hour after work. If you are looking for authentic Brit food, this is the place to go. The Fish and Chips, YorKshire Pudding and Bangers Mash are to die for.

RICHARD From SACRAMENTO Loves This Place. RICH4TANYA

On March 20, 2008, I was lucky to happen by E & C, during my first visit to Philadelphia. It was cold out and I was in need of a warm place a tasty Ale and some 'Fish -n- Chips'. The food and service was super. A great selection.

I found the restaurant romantic, with a nice atmosphere, as I had found in the UK on my trips abroad.

Even the guy who was rude to the waitress, was treated with more respect than he deserved.

It would definitely be one of my hangouts, if I were a local.

On Thursday, they have a trivia game going on. I joined in, and within 15 minutes, the girl in my dreams walked in and sat down beside me. She joined the game and we both failed to get "SnagglePuss" as the obvious answer. We continued to talk and I was spellbound. She said her name was 'Tanya' and that she was a 'Paralegal'. I replied that I had been as well. I had a hard time keeping my cool. When she finally said that she had to go catch her train, I wanted to join her, but, yea..but, I was an out of towner, a stranger, and out of respect, I didn't want to spook her. She did ask me for my name and number, which I thought was mighty fine. We talked of maybe going to an Italian restaurant on the following Sunday. We shook hands..and that is the moment I regret. I never saw her again while in town. Sunday happened to be Easter, E & C was closed, so I had a long day waiting for her call. I walked out in the cold to pass time. I returned on Monday, wrote some lyrics down and hoisted a few, but she never stopped by. I wished I had at least taken a picture of her. My camera was right in my coat pocket. But I was too lame to think of it.

I of course had to leave to return home in CA...but I can't get her out of my mind. I know...I know..same ole ..but something just clicked...I know..I know...it's just in my mind...but isn't it all.? Tanya...the Girl In My Dreams.

bar. This English experience even includes the telephone booth. The beautiful wood interior is just like the E&C at Grove City, PA. E & C has the best imports on tap. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a Weyerbacher Hefeweizen on tap with a lemon to boot. The food is good too.

bugers and beer. this is a great place to grab a bite and a few drinks during lunch time or after work. their burgers are as good as any pub or bar (along with good finger foods) around the neighborhood. the services were ok-it can be busy at times and i can understand.

Can't Go Wrong. E & C is a perfect place for lunch. The restaurant is quiet and refined -- we've had several luncheons (large and small groups) here over the years. The food has always been great, and the service has always been terrific.

Very Good Pub Grub. Service was a bit sour and impersonal, but the fish and chips hit the spot just fine, and the restaurant is attractive and relaxing, with a nice table al fresco setup on the sidewalk. Inexpensive, tasty - I'll be back...
