Great food, love this place. Food and drinks are great. If you can't decide what to order, just close your eyes and pick one. seriously everything is good. Services can be good and bad. first time I went, it was great. The second time it wasn't so good. Make sure you make reservation. It can get very crowded.
Excellent Food-Nasty Service. In 2006, I have dined at this restaurant 4 times. The food is fabulous which is the only reason why I still dine there. The service is downright RUDE!! Apparently, I am not the type of client that they would like others to see. My first experience entitled me to a wall table between the 2 large front windows when I requested a window seat facing the square. On my 2nd visit, I was told that they cannot hold a table reservation for my elderly Mother of 93 for several minutes as her company parked the car, even though the restaurant was empty. And last, but not least, on my last visit when I requested a booth in the back area at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon, I was told that I could only be seated at a table because "the dining area will be filling up very quickly, within the next 10 minutes". At first, I thought the waiter was joking, but realized otherwise, when I was led to a table next to the wine sink. An hour went by and we finished dining and the restaurant DID NOT fill up as expected. I'm a resident on Rittenhouse Square and cannot believe the grief that people have to put up with because they are not of a certain age backet (30-40). So beware for some RUDE behavior if you "DON'T HAVE THE LOOK!!".
Amazing Everything. From the moment my boyfriend and I sit down we are treated wonderfully by the staff. From the corn bread to the lobster bisque everything is amazing. My boyfriend and I visit Devon's atleast 2-3 a year. If you need hgelp choosing wine ask your server for a sampling of different ones and they are so helpful when it comes to choosing the perfect meal.
User review by smsteffy. The food was good, wide range of fish although I was disappointed when I didn't find some more upscale fishes such as escolar... Halibut, sole, salmon appeared a little generic for a seafood specialty restaurant. I had the best bread and crab cake of my life. The ambience was good, king of trendy but I wouldn't go for a quiet date, the place is packed and noisy, the service was excellent. I would go back if I lived in Philly.

This is a great place for a small (or maybe large group)! I took my mom there for her birthday and it was perfect. The food was great and the service was wonderful! I suggest the scallops as well as the clam chowder and lobster bisque thought I'm sure everything on the menu is great.
Perfect for any special occasion
I love this place!. The seafood is always very fresh with a great selection of oysters. The service is prompt and friendly. Do yourself a favor and get a table outside. The restaurant overlooks Rittenhouse Square and it's gorgeous.
User review by jaf515. Wonderful place, being a philly native it is my favorite resturant, atomsphere is beautiful, and its wonderful to sit outside and look out onto rittenhouse square. Food is great. Service is always prompt. Absolutely love Devon.
What's the rush?. Went there for a birhtday dinner with an 8:30p.m. reservation on a Saturday night. The ambiance was nice. We sat down, the waitress told us the specials and took our drink order. Three minutes later she came back and asked if we were ready to order. So began the rush. Half way through appetizers our dinner arrived, on the verge of being undercooked! You would think a seafood restaurant should know to thoroughly cook a lobster. "Nice" restaurants shouldn't rush their patrons, especially on Saturday night.
terrific dining experience. The concierge recommended Devon Seafood Grill, and we weren't sure what to expect. It's an attractive space with plenty of seating. Our server Carmela was an absolute pro, but also super friendly and a lot of fun. She was right there with everything we needed, and all of her suggestions from the menu were right on. The food was fabulous - my husband the mussel connaisseur declared them the best ever. Overall a terrific experience and worth every penny. We will go back again and again.
Well-prepared seafood standards. Though no bargain affair, Devon makes for a solid dining experience by offering well-prepared seafood classics. Grilled/broiled/seared standards are offered with basic vegetable sides, along with some more unusual choices (including a very good Cioppino seafood stew.) Start off with chilled oysters, great fried calamari, or a heaping bowl of mussels in white wine and garlic. Service is efficient and friendly. The wine list offers a nice selection, particularly of good California wines, decent bottles in the $30-40 range.
