Editorial Review for Embassy Suites – by Cory Jane Birkett
In Short
In 1984, the first Embassy Suites location debuted in Overland Park, Kan. Today, the property's luxury accommodations make it an ideal hotel for conferences, special events and weddings. All hotel rooms are spacious two-room suites that include a separate living area with a sofa bed and desk, a private bedroom, two televisions, a wet bar, a refrigerator and a coffeemaker. Guests may also attend a nightly reception with beverages.

We spent one Saturday night. Hotel was busy but everyone was pleasant and efficient. Check-in was immediate and there wasn't even a line for the free drinks during the "manager's reception" happy hour. The lobby is not impressive. Its modern architecture is beginning to look a bit dated, and because it's a round building, the spaces seem small. However, everything is clean and well maintained. The suites are large, clean and well furnished. They all open off of a central elevator column so that the bedrooms are far from any hotel noises and every room has an outside view. We looked over Logan Circle to Art Museum and it was beautiful. With an internet deal ($151 including all taxes) this is a good value for center city. Parking is an extra $24 + tax but they do allow unlimited in and out.
Pros: center city location, suites with kitchenet, nice views
Cons: expensive parking

This hotel was verydisappointing. I have stayed at many Embassy suites and have always been pleased. The hotel is very dated with old carpeting. They offer a free breaksfast but we had to wait over one hour to get in. It was completely understaffed. Tables were barely being cleaned, they were out of silverware. Next day to get our car we waited an hour and half. There were at least 75 people waiting and some people had waited 2 hrs. Elevators took forever and we had to use the stairs or wait 30 min.
Pros: bed comfortable
Cons: poor service, long waits, old carpeting
